Jada Graves, Amarillo High, basketball, So.

On the court: Graves is improving each and every week at being the floor general for the No. 6-ranked Amarillo High Lady Sandies. During a pair of victories over Palo Duro, 67-23, and rival Tascosa 101-55, the sophomore was stellar averaging 12.5 points a game, dishing out 4.5 assists, totaling five rebounds, and only committing two total turnovers. On the season, Graves is becoming a trustworthy leader for head coach Jeff Williams, averaging seven points a contest to go with three rebounds a game, and averaging three assists with three steals a night.

Coach Jeff Williams: “Jada doesn’t turn the ball over. When she has the ball in her hands she makes good decisions, and she is the engine that drives us. She makes the right passes and sets teammates up well. Jada plays great defense, and she’s learned to take charges. That something she’s really improved on. She’s also a great teammate that does well in school, and you never have to worry about her. She’s a leader at an early age, and she does everything right.”

Graves: “We’re playing great and the chemistry on our team right now is very good. We have a lot of confidence going, and having the team I have around me gives me a lot more confidence to play my game. My goal is just to go out and make plays and not turn the ball over. That’s very important to me, and we just want to get better each time we’re on the floor.”
