On the court: McBroom continues to be a huge asset to the powerful Canyon Lady Eagles team who have their eyes set on another deep playoff push. The West Texas A&M commit had two great games over the past week, scoring 19 points, adding six rebounds with four assists, and four steals in the regular season finale in a 75-21 at Pampa. McBroom showed off another stellar outing to open the postseason helping lead Canyon (26-5) to a convincing 74-15 victory over Snyder in the Class 4A Bidistrict round Monday. McBroom tallied 17 points against Snyder, pulling down six boards, and making six steals.

On the season, the senior is averaging 10.8 points a game with five rebounds a night.

Coach Tate Lombard: “Zoey was asked to be more of a leader this year. We didn’t ask her more to be anything but herself, and she’s done a tremendous job in her leadership role. Zoey is a really well rounded player and she’s always been aggressive. She handles ball more this year, and we’ve had her post up more. Zoey is strong, she’s quick, and loves to battle. Off the court Off the court, she’s quiet, but a great person and a great teammate. She’s amazing with kids, and is so close with all of our families. She’s just unbelievable person.”

McBroom: “It’s been great year. I feel we’ve been playing really good and we’re figuring out who we are. We played really well through district, and we’re off to a good start in the playoffs. I’ve really enjoyed taking on a different role this season. I handle the ball, but I also post up a lot more and defend post players. Losing so many seniors, we all had to take on different roles, but we’re all loving it, and I feel I’m a better player now than I ever was.”
