The Amarillo High Lady Sandies captured the outright District 3-5A championship for a second straight year after blanking Palo Duro 26-0 on Tuesday.
Tessia Guzman and Danae Lopez combined on a dominating performance in the circle. Guzman tossed three scoreless innings allowing a hit with five strikeouts. Lopez came in and worked the final two innings without giving up a hit or a run with two K’s. Lopez also had the pop at the plate going 4-for-5 hitting an impressive three home runs to finish with 10 RBIs.
The Lady Sandies are a perfect 9-0 in district and 21-11-1 overall. The Lady Dons fall to 3-15-1, 0-9.
Randall took a step closer to securing outright second place out slugging Tascosa 15-12 at home.
The Lady Raiders are 7-2 in district and second place with a win against Caprock at home on Friday. Tascosa drops to 11-18, 2-7
Tascosa had rallied from a 12-6 deficit to tie the game, 12-12, thanks to a 6-run sixth inning. But in the bottom of the sixth, Randall scored three big insurance runs to preserve the much needed victory.
Anberlin O’Dell was key for the Lady Raiders going 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs, and scoring twice.
Caprock stayed a game back of Randall for second place taking down Plainview 12-9 at home. The Lady Longhorns (16-15) improve to 6-3 in district. Caprock needs a win at Randall on Friday to force a second place tie. Plainview falls to 20-13, 3-6.
Caprock catcher Aliyiah Alaniz had two doubles with four RBIs.
District 4-4A
Canyon captured the outright District 4-4A championship by downing Dumas 13-6 on the road on Monday.
The Lady Eagles broke away from the Demonettes in the top of the sixth. Leading 5-2, Canyon took control plating five runs in the frame to take a 10-2 advantage. Maclin Culwell finished the contest with a 2-for-5 effort, driving in a game-high four RBIs. Teammate Berkley Bradley had a home run on a 2-for-4 afternoon scoring five times.
Canyon improves to 9-0 overall in district and 21-9 overall. Dumas (22-11) is holding on to the fourth and final playoff spot at 4-5.
Pampa secured second place in the district with a 10-0 run-rule win over Perryton at home on Monday.
The Lady Harvesters move to 7-2 in District 4-4A and 23-6-1 overall.
Kynleigh Kirby jammed up Perryton hitters allowing only two hits over six innings while stacking up 12 strikeouts. Shortstop Cassidy Stanhope delivered a 3-run home run to lead the offensive charge. Perryton drops to 2-22, 0-9.
Borger stayed a game ahead of Dumas for third place in the district getting a convincing 13-3 win over Hereford on Tuesday.
The Lady Bulldogs (12-8) are 5-4 in the league and can secure third place with a victory at home against Dumas on Friday.
Raylee Jennings pitched all five innings giving up three runs with seven strikeouts for the win. Jennings was also 2-for-4 with an RBI. Teammate Natalie Chisum drove in three runs on a pair of doubles.
District 1-3A
Bushland is the district champions of 1-3A after dismantling Canadian 39-0 on Tuesday.
The Lady Falcons hit an astounding 11 home runs in the game. Abby Howell had three of those homers totaling nine RBIs. Howell’s sister, Jillian, was 5-for-6 with two homers of her own and five RBIs. Chloe Cochran added two more long balls and eight RBIs, and Brylee Adams threw her second no-hitter of district, while racking up 10 strikeouts. Adams was also 4-of-6 with a homer and drove in five runs.
Bushland (24-8) is 7-1 in the league.
River Road bounced back off a loss to Bushland last week blasting Dalhart 14-1 on Monday.
The Lady Wildcats will be the No. 2-seed out of District 1-3A sitting at 6-2 in league play and 19-10-1 overall.
Shiyan Lozano had the hot bat going a perfect 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Teammate Carolyn Koval added a homer, and a triple on the way to driving in four runs.
Dalhart (5-17, 2-6) will be the No. 3-seed in district.
