Randall capped off a big week with not only a win against rival West Plains on Tuesday, but followed that victory with a huge four-set win over the Canyon Lady Eagles, 25-21, 25-13, 22-25, 25-18, on Saturday at the Canyon Junior High.
The Lady Raiders (26-5 overall) are now all alone on top of District 4-4A at 4-0. The Lady Eagles (21-7) are now a game back of Randall at 3-1 in the league.
Sophomore Chloe Brown is on fire and she carried on that great play for the Lady Raiders against the Lady Eagles. At the net, Brown had the swings working by knocking down a team-high 13 kills. Brown then worked her way around the floor hustling for 16 digs for a double-double. Kambree Gonzalez was the glue to the defense as usual for Randall with a team-high 19 digs, and Amber Matthews did her job complimenting Brown with 10 kills.
Canyon’s Laney Jones did put together a double-double with 16 digs and 15 kills.
Saturday’s quick hits
Hereford stayed hot by defending home court by getting a win over Pampa in four sets, 25-16, 25-12, 18-25, 25-16. Kyndall Valdez was incredible on defense hitting the floor for an eye-popping 47 digs. Teammate Lilly Madrigal operated the offense with 33 digs and Teagan Thomas slammed down a team-high 19 kills. Pampa’s Haili Newton did have 17 kills. Hereford moves to 17-15 overall and are tied for second place in District 4-4A at 3-1. Pampa falls to 17-13, 1-3.
Perryton picked up a stunning five-set victory at home against Dumas on Saturday. The Rangerettes held off Dumas by scores of 25-21, 22-25, 25-22, 19-25, 15-13. Perryton improves to 12-19 on the year and 1-3 in district. The Demonettes drop to 15-11 overall and 1-3 as well.
West Plains bounced back from a loss to Randall on Tuesday with a sweep of Borger, 25-17, 25-13, 25-23, on Saturday. Teagan Hudson was outstanding in the victory with eight kills and 14 digs. Lauren Hulen set up most of Hudson’s kills passing out 17 assists. The Lady Wolves (17-12) are now 2-2 in District 4-4A. Borger moves to 11-12, 1-3.
In District 5-4A, Lubbock-Cooper Liberty rolled over Big Spring on Saturday, 25-14, 25-13, 25-15. The Lady Patriots are cruising at the moment moving to 3-0 in district and 19-8 overall. Lexie Allgood dominated Big Spring with 13 kills.
In District 3-5A, Amarillo High is all alone in first place and the Lady Sandies aren’t looking to move backward anytime soon. The Lady Sandies made it 74 straight district wins with a sweep of Lubbock Coronado, 25-11, 25-16, 25-9, on Friday night. The Lady Sandies are cruising at 22-8 overall and 8-0 in the league. Coronado drops to 2-6 in district and 13-13 overall. The combination of Dillan Ray and Harper Vaughan is clicking for AHS. Ray was the quarterback of the offense totaling 33 assists with Vaughan knocking down 17 kills.
Tascosa stayed a game behind Amarillo High cruising past Palo Duro 25-6, 25-7, 25-7, on Friday. The Lady Rebels are 7-1 in District 3-5A and 17-13 overall. Presley Neslage had a double-double for Tascosa with 19 digs and 13 assists.
In other District 3-5A scores, Lubbock-Cooper defeated Frenship, 21-25, 26-24, 25-21, 25-16. Frenship Memorial beat Caprock, 25-14, 25-11, 25-18, and Lubbock Monterey held off Lubbock High, 25-19, 21-25, 25-17, 24-26, 15-10.
During Saturday’s non-district action, Bushland blasted Levelland 25-12, 25-2, 25-6. In the dominating victory, Laynee Adams had a modest 11 kills with six aces. Teammate Morgan Eberly dished out 21 assists and Charley Freeman worked for nine digs. Bushland improves to 26-5 overall.
Highland Park is putting together a solid year and that continued with a 25-16, 25-5, 25-7 win against Olton on Saturday. The Lady Hornets are now 21-7 on the year. Aliyah Robinson slammed down 10 kills. Teammate Kaitlin Lucas was the operator on offense with 24 assists.
