Addison Appier, Bushland softball, Sr.

On the diamond: Bushland had the bats blasting during a UIL Class 3A Division I bi-district sweep of Littlefield last weekend. The Lady Falcons combined for 30 runs in a pair of 17-2 and 13-5 victories. Senior slugger Addison Appier was one of those big bats that feasted on Lady Wildcat pitching. In the opening game, Appier went deep, delivering a solo shot, and followed that with a 3-for-3 effort Saturday that included a pair of homers to finish with seven RBIs.

On the season, Appier is hitting an impressive .526 at the dish with 13 home runs, 11 doubles to go with 58 RBIs. Appier also boasts a .889 fielding percentage at third base.

Coach Tayler Frye: “I feel like we’re playing strong, we’ve calmed down since the season started, and we’ve caught a second wind. We’re young and that’s where Addison’s leadership has become very valuable. Being a senior, she has been huge for us. She was injured at the beginning of the year, and she became coach Appier. She was great with our younger players and helped them. When she came back on the field, we felt her impact immediately. She is the type of person that excels in whatever she focuses on and is the definition of a teammate.”

Appier: “This has been a fun season. We have a great team with a strong bond and I’m proud of how we’re getting better each week. We have a lot of veterans that are uplifting for our young players that are coming on each game for us. For myself, I was injured early in the year but I’ve been able to come back. I think that really helped my leadership and I’m more confident on the field.”
