Canyon cruises by West Plains
The Canyon Lady Eagles continue to soar through District 4-4A getting another lopsided win, this time over rival West Plains 43-15 victory on Friday night at the West Plains Gym.
This was a slow moving first half with both defense playing strong until the Lady Eagles were able to pull away in the second half. Canyon led 8-5 in the first quarter and then by a slim 17-12 lead at the break. But, in the second half, the Lady Eagles broke the game open outscoring the Lady Wolves 12-1 in the third quarter.

Tai Wright of Canyon led all scorers with 16 points. Canyon improves to 20-2 on the year but more importantly 7-0 in 4-4A. The Lady Wolves fall to 3-4 in district and 9-16 overall.
Dalhart downs Childress
Dalhart is quietly putting together a very strong season and that carried on Friday, as the Lady Wolves handled Childress at home by a 65-38 count in a District 1-3A game on Friday night.
The Lady Wolves are rolling since the season started, moving to 22-3 overall while staying in a first place tie with Bushland at 3-0 in league play.
Dalhart used balanced scoring to beat the Lady Bobcats (11-15, 0-3) with Joie Read leading the way with 21 points. Arianna Chacon and Aubree Ramirez each scored 12 with Kammi Maddox chipping in 11.
FRIDAY’S TOP PERFORMERS
- Stratford’s Madi Braden posted a game-high 29 points as the Lady Elks rolled by Sanford-Fritch 66-21. It was a milestone night for the junior post, who surpassed 1,000 career points during the win.
- Hereford picked up a huge 45-40 win over Randall to take over second place in District 4-4A. Mia Gomez capped off a huge week scoring a game-high 22 points against the Lady Raiders to go with four steals and three rebounds.
- Hartley stayed hot with a 71-21 win against Adrian, moving to 3-0 in District 3-1A. Elia Alonso had a huge night for the Lady Tigers scoring a game-best 28 points.
- Frenship standout Jada Jackson poured in 13 points to keep the Lady Tigers unbeaten in District 2-6A with a 47-33 victory over San Angelo Central.
- New Home remained perfect in District 4-2A thanks to a 46-32 victory against New Deal. Kirbi Johnson played her part for the Lady Leopards with an 18-point performance.
- Izabella Slover played a pivotal role during Spearman’s 38-32 win against Sunray on Friday. Slover tallied a team-high 19 points, knocking down three, 3-pointers and going 6-of-8 from the free-throw line.
- Hale Center hit 12, 3-pointers as a team to handle Olton 79-53. Bella Flores had four of those 3’s, all coming in the third quarter, as Flores finished with 18 points for the Lady Owls.
- Curslynn Shivers of Tulia helped the Lady Hornets to a thrilling 39-37 win at River Road on Friday in a District 1-3A game. Shivers did a little bit of everything, posting 16 points to go with eight boards.
- Pampa earned a lopsided 46-14 win against Dumas on Friday night. Emmy Boutsamaly was a key reason why with 17 points for the Lady Harvesters.
- Morgan Butler’s 15 points was more than enough to lift Claude past Shamrock, 38-17 on Friday night during a District 2-1A game.
