In a battle of the Wildcats, Idalou protected its territory in a commanding 42-7 home win over Littlefield during a District 2-3A Division II matchup on Friday night at Wildcats Stadium.
Idalou set the tone from the jump, forcing a fumble on the opening kickoff, and never looking back.
“Littlefield is explosive, and we knew we’d have our hands full against them,” Idalou head coach Clay White said. “Like we have done lately, we were able to make a play early and that was big. We took advantage of that, and I think that helped us set the tone.”

The early momentum led to 32 unanswered Idalou points in the first quarter. Quarterback Kamdon Lutrick had a hand in three touchdowns in the quarter, and Aiden Barrera took care of things on the defensive end with an interception returned for a touchdown.
AJ Huddleston and Jett Dodd added to the damage in the second quarter with a touchdown and field goal, respectively, for a 42-0 halftime lead.
Littlefield would get the only score of the second half when Zane Champion hauled in a six-yard scoring toss.
“We were able to control the ball,” White said of the win. “Littlefield is a team that plays extremely fast, and snaps it every six or seven seconds. We had to be trained in our terminology, and make sure we were getting lined up on defense. We did a great job of handling that and played really well on offense.”
Idalou had complete control of the ball. They led in every aspect: 66 plays to 52, 399 yards of offense to 235, 17 first downs to 9, 0 turnovers to 3.
Lutrick and Jude Heard were key in the win. Lutrick accounted for 189 passing yards and two scores, while Heard rushed for 126 yards and one score. Cooper Wilson hauled in both of Lutrick’s scoring throws and had three other receptions on the night for 125 yards.
Moving forward Idalou (5-3, 2-0) will look to keep its district record unscathed as they travel to Slaton for a tough Halloween matchup. The Tigers are also spotless in district, and have only one loss on the season.
“We are feeling great right now,” White said. “It’s big to be undefeated in district and get back into the playoffs. This is a very good district, and there aren’t any weeks off. We just have to keep looking forward to the next opponent and what’s ahead of us.”
Littlefield will look to get back in the district win column when they host Lubbock Roosevelt, who is 0-2 in district play.
