Just a week into the season and district volleyball has already gotten underway thanks to a nine-team district in 3-5A. Check out the results from the Texas Panhandle and South Plains teams that saw action from Amarillo High against Palo Duro, Tascosa hosting Plainview, the crosstown showdown of Lubbock Coronado and Lubbock Monterey as well as Caprock visiting Lubbock High. In non-district play, West Plains took on Lubbock-Cooper Liberty and Bushland hosted Borger.

District 3-5A

Tascosa gets past Plainview

The Tascosa Lady Rebels opened District 3-5A in a big way by rolling over Plainview at home in a clean sweep, 25-13, 25-11, 25-15, on Tuesday night at the THS Activity Center.

The Lady Rebels are off to a 7-2 start to the year and 1-0 in league action. Plainview drops to 3-6 on the year and 0-1 in 3-5A.

Berkley Harper and Gabbie Mason set the tone on the offensive side of the net combining for 20 kills. Harper paced Tascosa with 11 as Mason followed with nine. Libby Miller made the offense go with 21 assists followed by Addison Merrell’s 16. Defensively, Bennet Berryman showed up in a big way getting 24 digs.

Tascosa will now head to the Justin Northwest Tournament that begins Friday. The Lady Bulldogs are travel to San Angelo for the Nita Vannoy Tournament.
