Two Decades, “Program Wins,” and Self-Challenge

With 20 years in club soccer with High Plains Drifters before Palo Duro, Coach Massie’s most memorable moment was earning “program wins” in his first season—making medal games in all three tournaments and winning two.

His toughest opponent? Himself—always striving to improve and never settling.

Superstitions, Juggling Skills, and Coaching for Life

Game day starts with a unique ritual: brushing his teeth and using mouthwash before every match.

He can juggle a soccer ball better than most of his players—a hidden talent that keeps him connected with the team.

If he weren’t coaching, he admits he’d probably be miserable, unable to imagine life without the game. The best advice he’s received: “You never stop learning. Once you think you know everything, you know absolutely nothing.”
