The prestigious Air It Out Passing Camp made its annual trip to Bushland High School on Monday and Tuesday.

Over 150 Texas Panhandle athletes from seventh grade to incoming seniors were on-hand to take part in the popular football camp.

Air It Out was created in 1990 by Hereford graduate and former Hardin-Simmons offensive coordinator, Alan Wartes.

The passing camp provides junior high and high school quarterbacks, receivers, running backs and tight ends with the best instruction in skill development. This camp has developed its reputation as one of the best in Texas with instruction from Hereford graduate and former Texas Tech quarterback, Cody Hodges, as well as former University of Texas and NFL tight end, David Thomas.

The football camp also focuses on faith, character and leadership development, drug and alcohol awareness that will help young men be successful both on the playing field and in the game of life.

“I always love coming to the Texas Panhandle,” Hodges said.

“This area is so close to my heart. I also love coaching Amarillo-area players. They are so respectful and have a tremendous work ethic. Through all these years you see the next man up to be the next leader on their team. But the message is so important. We have a great team that has a lot of different aspects. My belief is football is too short, and life needs to be more than just football. Even if you play at the highest level football is a small window. But who are you for the rest of your life, and we want to make sure they know that.”
