Tascosa stayed in a tie for second place in the district by taking the lead with seven runs in the bottom of the fifth for a 9-3 victory over Palo Duro.
The Rebels trailed the Dons 3-2 going into the bottom of the fifth before erupting offensively. After a hit batsman started the inning, Tascosa (8-8, 2-1) had four straight singles. Josh Splawn’s base hit tied the game before Koben Yarbrough’s two-run single gave the Rebels the lead for good, 5-3.
Yarbbrugh had three hits for Tascosa while Splawn, Logan Nance and Davis Yaws had two apiece. Javen Patrick pitched a complete game victory, giving up five hits and striking out nine, as Palo Duro fell to 4-12-1 and 0-3.

AHS stays hot
Amarillo High stayed unbeaten atop District 3-5A on Tuesday afternoon thanks to two huge innings against Caprock at Sandie Field.
The Sandies took control of the game with 10 runs in the bottom of the third and followed that up with seven in the fourth to crush Caprock 19-5 and invoke the 10-run mercy rule in five innings. With the win, Amarillo High improved to 12-5 and remained perfect in district at 3-0.
AHS led 2-0 heading into the third before breaking the game open. The first six batters reached base via four hits and two walks as Will Maynard capped the hit parade with a two-run double. Jett Johnston later followed with a two-run single.
Two errors and a hit batter got things going for the Sandies in the fourth. Nate Haws capped the inning with as two-run single.
Caprock (2-13, 1-2) made things more respectable with five runs in the last two innings.

Randall routed by Plainview
Randall never got going offensively against Plainview, as the Raiders managed only three hits in suffering a 10-0 five-inning run-rule loss at home.
Plainview’s Zach Hernandez shut down Randall (8-11-1, 1-2), as the biggest threat the Raiders mounted came in the bottom of the first when M.J. Cepeda doubled and went to third on a passed ball. They put two runners on in the second, but nothing came of it.
Randall starter Cayden Eason gave up three runs in the top of the first, which proved to be all Plainview (10-8-1, 2-1) would need.

Eagles knock off Hereford
Canyon made a major statement in the District 4-4A opener at Hereford on Tuesday, rallying for six runs in the top of the seventh behind two huge extra base hits to pull out an 8-3 victory.
The game was tied 2-2 going into the bottom of the sixth when Hereford took a 3-2 lead on an RBI single. That only set the stage for Canyon (15-3, 1-0) to make a major comeback.
Brody Cook and Jack McKay drew walks to open the seventh and they both scored on Ben Black’s double to give the Eagles a 4-3 lead. Trent Hefner gave Canyon some insurance with a three-run home run to make it 7-3.
Jace Owen pitched the final two innings of relief to pick up the win for the Eagles.
Hereford fell to 4-9 and 0-1.

Balk gives Dumas win over Pampa
Speed won for the Dumas Demons in their District 4-4A opener against Pampa, as Raul Bustamante singled to lead off the bottom of the seventh, stole second, stole third, then scored on a balk with two outs to give Dumas a 7-6 win over Pampa.
Bustamante led off the seventh in a 6-6 game by singling off Pampa starter Armando Miranda. After that, MIranda struck out Ethan Town and Blake Boelter and Dumas (9-8, 1-0) looked primed to head to extra innings with the Harvesters (8-6, 0-1).
But Miranda was pulled due to the 110-pitch rule, and after three pitches, Pampa reliever Cayson Steward balked, bringing home Bustamante with the winning run.
