Texline thumps Wildroado

It was suppose to be a showdown for first sole possession of first place in District 3-1A between two top 10 ranked teams.

Texline visited Wildorado with both squads sitting 3-0 in the district race, however, Texline blew this game up early and never looked back racing to a convincing 64-23 victory.

Texline looked like the No. 1 team in the state, jumping out to a commanding 19-0 lead, holding the Mustangs scoreless in the first quarter. By halftime, the Tornadoes had pushed the advantage, 34-6.

Stratton Potter and William Luther did major damage combining for 39 points. Potter had a game-high 20, followed by Luther’s 19.

Texline improves to 18-2 overall and 4-0 in district.

No. 7 Wildorado falls to 19-3, 3-1.

Randall girls stays hot

Throughout the early portion of the District 3-5A schedule, the Randall Lady Raiders continue to play solid basketball.

Randall moved to 2-0 in district downing Caprock thanks to a 62-42 win on Tuesday night.

Sadie Sanchez has been playing lights out of late as she poured in a game-best 21 points to lead the Lady Raiders. Ainsley Velasquez added 11, and teammate Leah Garcia had 10 in the win.

Randall is now 16-9 overall. Caprock falls to 15-8, 0-2.

Tuesday’s top performers

Hereford’s Miranda Acosta led all scorers with 20 points as the Lady Whitefaces rallied to down Dumas, 42-36.

Emma Troxell put up 27 points that helped Bushland dismantle Dalhart, 79-51.

Lamont Nickelberry tallied an eye-opening 31 points during the Childress Bobcats rout over Slaton, 69-40.

Follett freshman Julian Barton scored a career-high 29 points as the Panthers pummeled Darrouzett, 79-44.
