Hereford stays hot

The Hereford Whitefaces kicked off a big week of district play with a big win by taking down Perryton 63-47 at home Tuesday night.

Hereford (15-3 overall) keeps pace with Canyon (10-7) at 3-0 in District 4-4A. The Whitefaces and Eagles will clash in a district showdown at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Canyon. Perryton drops to 7-6, 2-1 with the loss.

Hereford took advantage of a key second half outscoring the Rangers 28-20 in the final two quarters, including a 16-2 third quarter. Blake Walker led all scorers scoring 21 points for the Whitefaces.

Clarendon knocks off Panhandle

In the first meeting of what will more than likely determine the District 2-2A crown, the No. 2-ranked Clarendon Broncos held off Panhandle 65-55 in Clarendon on Tuesday.

The Panthers had trouble defending sophomore swingman Jmaury Davis, who tallied a game-high 19 points to pave the way for the Broncos. With the victory Clarendon takes over sole possession of the district lead improving to 12-3, 4-0. Panhandle drops to 11-4, 3-1.

Tuesday’s top performers

Bushland’s Brody Sutterfield scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Falcons past River Road 77-28.

Caden Beckner of Dalhart poured in 22 points during the Golden Wolves 71-44 victory at Highland Park.

Nazareth standout Kaden Cleavinger scored 21 of his 28 points in the first half in a 67-26 win against Wildorado.
