On the season, Ramirez, is 7-2 on the year with an ERA of 2.24 with 102 strikeouts. He’s also hitting .414 at the plate with three home runs, 12 doubles, five triples and has driven in 28 runs.

Coach Grant Davis: “Kalub is an unbelievable athlete, and one of the best baseball players I’ve ever coached. He’s one of the top players in the Texas Panhandle and I’d put him up there with anyone in the state. It’s not just his play on the field that makes him special, but it’s his leadership ability. He leads by example and he has a voice that the team listens to. He always makes sure the team knows the rent is due. He has fought through injuries the past two years, and he’s only played in three district games the last two years before this season. He is healthy now, and showing what he can do. Kalub is special.”

Ramirez: “This has been an amazing season. Just to be healthy and getting to enjoy this with my teammates has been awesome. We have eight seniors on this team and we’re all very close. We have great coaches and we all just play for one another with one goal in mind, and that’s to win. I think my leadership is where I’ve improved the most. I want to be the best leader I can for this team and make sure these guys know that I’m willing to do anything for these guys. I also think my glove has gotten so much better in the field.”
