The win moves Bushland to 2-4 on the year as the Falcons get set to close out non-district next week at Andrews.

“I hope getting a win like this gets us on a roll,” Bushland head coach Josh Reynolds said. “We go to Andrews next week, and now it’s our chance to gain some momentum heading into district if we can beat those guys.”

Perryton falls to 3-3 and will open District 2-4A Division II play hosting Lubbock-Cooper Liberty (5-1) on Friday.

Bushland lit up the scoreboard in the first when Colton Strickland rushed in from three-yards out. Kannon Aven and Jordan Mariscal kept the momentum going when they connected on a 26 yard scoring toss

In the second quarter, the Falcons kept the momentum alive in the second with two more scores. Aven connected with Jenner King on a 23-yard TD pass, and then found Foote on a 52-yard TD pass.

Aven secured the game in the third with an eight-yard scoring rush. His foot was good for all five extra points in the game.

“I think it was a complete team win,” Reynolds said. “We knew how good Perryton was going to be, but I thought we were very balanced. We threw the ball well, we were able to run the ball and made plays. We did a good job of getting turnovers as well on defense.”

Aven started the entire game and had his best start to date going 20-of-30 for 290 yards with three touchdowns. He also rushed for 44 yards on 10 carries for another score. King had the big receiving night snagging nine catches for 89 yards with a touchdown and Foote tallied 77 yards on the ground.

The Falcon defense was able to step up intercepting two Ranger passes and had two sacks and three tackles for loss in the contest.

“When you lose four in a row, it’s not a good feeling,” Reynolds said. “We aren’t used to that, but we had played a very good schedule and we knew Perryton was another great team. Their quarterback Cooper Schilling is the real deal. I’m just proud of how we fought and getting this win was huge.”

Schilling was in on all four of Perryton’s scores. He rushed in for two TDs and found Marco Najera and Kane Kinney on scoring tosses. Schilling connected on 11 of his 26 pass attempts for 165 yards.
