High school volleyball tournament season completed its third and final weekend on Friday and Saturday. Check out the results from teams across the Texas Panhandle and South Plains. Randall hosted its annual Randall Showcase Tournament. San Jacinto Christian Academy won the Tulia Tournament and Bushland did very well at the Nocona Tournament.

Randall goes unbeaten at home showcase

The Randall Lady Raiders were able to defend its home court winning four matches over Friday and Saturday during the Randall Showcase Tournament at the Leslie Broadhurst Gym.

The Lady Raiders opened Friday’s play beating Palo Duro and San Angelo. On Saturday, the Lady Raiders carried that momentum with wins against Tascosa and Vega.

Nevaeh Conner, Chloe Brown and Amber Matthews paced the offense. Conner had a team-high 40 kills over the four matches, Brown had 30 and Matthews went for 31 total kills. Kambree Gonzalez was the glue on defense nabbing 68 digs over the four matches.

West Plains was 3-1 overall during the Randall Showcase. The Lady Wolves beat Palo Duro (25-13, 25-20, 25-12), knocked off Vega (25-10, 25-11, 25-9), and defeated San Angelo Central (17-25, 25-19, 20-25, 25-19, 15-11) before falling to Tascosa (25-20, 16-25, 17-25, 25-20, 8-15).

The Lady Wolves (16-8 overall) saw big matches from Kynzie Ward and Aaniyah Kitchen. Ward went for 41 combined kills with a block. Kitchen showed her versatility with 34 kills, seven blocks and two aces. Idaly Sotelo had 58 digs for the tournament with 13 assists and seven aces and Cecilia Murillo dished out 57 assists and added 29 digs.

Canyon also went 3-1 over the two days at the Randall Showcase Tournament. The Lady Eagles started out Friday defeating Vega (25-9, 25-15, 25-14) before getting beat by Tascosa (15-25, 18-25, 16-25). On Saturday, Canyon rebounded with a victory against Palo Duro (25-19, 25-15, 25-4) and a sweep of San Angelo Central (25-13, 25-13, 25-10).

Laney Jones had a solid two days for the Lady Eagles combining for 49 kills with 28 digs to go with four aces and three blocks. Aiva Kerr tallied 42 digs over the four matches and London Gibson handed out 65 assists with 17 digs.

San Jacinto Christian Academy Lady Patriots claim Tulia Tournament crown

It was a superb Thursday and Saturday for San Jacinto Christian Academy as the Lady Patriots were able to win the Tulia Tournament with a perfect 4-0 record.

The Lady Patriots (17-3 overall) opened tournament play with a pair of victories Thursday defeating Abernathy (25-11, 25-5) and Dimmitt (25-9, 25-8). On Saturday, SJCA knocked off Miami in the semifinals (25-8, 25-16) and then won the championship by beating Fort Elliott (25-13, 25-20).

Alayna Daniel and Blayne Robison were both named to the All-Tournament team for their efforts. Daniel totaled 29 kills for the weekend with Robison combining for 71 assists.

Tournament quick hits

Amarillo High had a solid showing at the Colleyville Tournament going 3-1 overall. The Lady Sandies beat Midlothian (23-25, 25-20, 25-13), then knocked off Coppell (21-25, 25-15, 25-17, 25-11) and then Frisco Heritage (22-25, 25-13, 25-17, 25-19) before a loss to Keller (21-25, 24-26, 27-25, 22-25). Kinsler Hanson was named to the All-Tournament team knocking down 64 kills in the four matches and combining for 78 digs. Harper Vaughn was also key over the weekend totaling 53 kills and 51 assists and Bennett Rea had 94 assists.

The Bushland Lady Falcons were the runner-up in the Nocona Tournament falling to Aubrey in the finals (23-25, 23-25). Berklee Billington and Ava Permenter were named to the All-Tournament team for Bushland.

Lubbock-Cooper Liberty was 8-1 at the Frenship Tournament getting the runner-up spot after falling to El Paso Montwood in the championship game. Lexie Allgood, Braylee Barron and Campbell Beeler were named to the All-Tournament team for Liberty.

Frenship Memorial went 4-2 at the Littlefield Tournament getting wins against Lubbock SouthCrest, Highland Park Alpine and Lubbock KPA.

Pampa went 3-0 at its one-day Lady Harvesters Showcase on Friday. The Lady Harvesters picked up sweeps over Caprock, West Texas High and Borger.
