Head coach: Sara Morath, 13th year at Canyon.
2024 Record: 27-14 overall, 11-3 in District 4-4A. Class 4A Division II regional finalist.
Returning starters: 6
Season opener: at Bushland, 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12.
Players to watch
Laney Jones, 5-10, outside hitter, Jr.
Jones had a sensational sophomore season with even bigger expectations this year. Jones was clutch at the net finishing with 257 kills to go with 110 digs.
Aiva Kerr, 5-4, libero, Sr.
Kerr was on the floor a lot last year and will be a valuable returner for coach Morath. Defensively, Kerr did her job with 251 digs in 2024 and was also solid at the serving line with 66 aces.
Maddie Haugen, 5-10, middle blocker, Sr.
At 5-foot-10, Haugen gives Canyon a solid front line with Jones. Haugen is a strong middle blocker for the Lady Eagles and that showed last year with 55 blocks on top of 114 kills.
