UIL High School Softball Texas Panhandle bi-district playoff pairings

The UIL Texas High School softball playoffs begin with the bi-district round on Thursday. Here’s a look at where each Texas Panhandle team will be playing.

Class 5A
Bi-district 

Division I

Amarillo High (20-8-1) vs. Abilene Cooper (15-12), at Frenship Softball Complex

Game 1: 6 p.m. Friday 
Game 2: 11 a.m. Saturday 
Game 3: 30 minutes following Game 2, if necessary

Caprock (15-10-1) vs. Abilene High (16-8), at First United Park, Lubbock-Cooper

Game 1: 7 p.m. Friday
Game 2: 2 p.m. Saturday 
Game 3: 30 minutes following Game 2, if necessary

Division II

Lubbock-Cooper (23-4) vs. Wichita Falls Memorial (13-19) 

Game 1: 4 p.m. Thursday, Wichita Falls Memorial
Game 2: 4 p.m. Friday, Lubbock-Cooper 
Game 3: 30 minutes following Game 2, if necessary

Lubbock Monterey (14-17) vs. Abilene Wylie (17-8), at Big Springs Softball Complex

Game 1: 5 p.m. Friday
Game 2: 11 a.m. Saturday
Game 3: 30 minutes following Game 2, if necessary

Kale Steed has worked in media since 2002 and has covered sports full-time since 2010, when he joined KVII-TV as a weekend sports reporter and sports anchor. From 2010–2014, he covered high school and collegiate athletics across the Texas Panhandle before transitioning from television to print journalism. In 2014, Steed joined the Amarillo Globe-News as a staff sports reporter. In 2019, he launched Press Pass Sports, betting on himself to build an independent outlet dedicated to in-depth local sports coverage.
