Ferro has played a big part to the Lady Sandies winning ways with her versatile play and leadership on the field. In a 4-0 shutout of Palo Duro, Ferro had a goal with an assist. In a 2-0 blanking of Coronado, the junior added a penalty kick in the 62nd minute.

On the season, Ferro has scored two goals and dished out three assists for an AHS team that is 5-1.

Coach Stacy McPherson: “We have great team chemistry this year and everyone supports one another. I really like this team and the potential they have this season. Sophie is such a hard worker. She is all over the field and sets us up with so many opportunities. She’s the kind of player that does anything asked of her and has grown into a leader on this team. She’s been on varsity since she was a freshman and just gives everything she has every time she steps on the field.”

Ferro: “I feel like we’ve started the season how we wanted to. We’re passing the ball better and we have great team chemistry. I feel I’ve learned a lot from my first two years on varsity. I’m more of a leader now and I feel comfortable helping the younger players and leading by example. I’m playing more freely and taking more chances to make things happen.”
