Canadian steam rolls Coahoma
Canadian put up the points early and often on the way to dismantling Coahoma 63-35 during a Class 3A Division II area round playoff game at Greg Sherwood Memorial Bulldogs Stadium on Friday night.
With the win, Canadian’s tradition-rich program continues to show its stability making their 13th straight appearance in next week’s third round of the playoffs.
Canadian (9-3) is now headed to take on a very familiar opponent in Idalou (10-2) in a regional semifinal at 2 p.m. Friday at Happy State Bank Stadium in Canyon.
Canadian ended Idalou’s season in the same round last year in a 57-14 win.
Dickinson had only one carry in the second half finishing the night with 11 carries for 206 yards.
Canadian’s offense never slowed down. The Wildcats built a 21-6 advantage and built that to 49-21 by halftime. Canadian finished with over 500 yards of offense putting 423 of those yards up in the first two quarters.
On top of Dickinson’s outing, quarterback Clay Kendall finished 15-of-24 for 180 yards with a pair of touchdown tosses.
In another area round game, Childress saw its season come to an end falling to Wall 47-14. The Bobcats end their year at 6-6.

Paradise stuns Bushland with last second score
It will be a game Bushland fans won’t want to remember.
In a nip and tuck game for all four quarters, the excitement didn’t start till the final few minutes of the fourth quarter that resulted in a Paradise last second touchdown pass that left the Falcons and their fans stunned during a heartbreaking 21-17 loss to the Panthers in the Class 3A Division I area round on Friday night on Charlie Johnston Field at Fair Park Stadium in Childress.
This game was tied 7-7 at half, and 14-14 in the fourth quarter. Bushland had the ball in the redzone with under three minutes to play and looked to have total control.
On a first and goal, quarterback Quaid Ferris called his own number on a quarterback sweep but was stopped short by inches at the goal line. That play was key because the Falcons were stopped on the next two plays as Paradise forced a field goal from Ysidro Carroll from 20-yards that gave the Falcons a 17-14 lead with 1:20 to go.
Paradise took over on the ensuing drive without a timeout and 75 yards to go. The Panthers went right down the field setting up at the 17-yard line with 10 seconds to play.
Facing one final play, Paradise quarterback Ayden Winters avoided pressure, rolled to his left and found an open Luke Brown who made a Bushland defender miss, and sprinted into the endzone for the game winning score giving the Panthers the 21-17 lead with only two seconds remaining.
Ferris finished 10-of-19 passing for 145 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Ferris also rushed for 51 yards with another score. Ty Purcell snagged four catches for 79 yards.
Dalhart falls to Jim Ned
Dalhart hung tough with Jim Ned, however, in the end didn’t have the offensive firepower to stay with the Indians falling 35-7 in the Class 3A Division I area round Friday night at First United Park at Lubbock-Cooper High School.
The Golden Wolves end the year at 8-4 while Jim Ned moves to 9-3 and will now face Paradise (10-2) in the regional semifinals.
Dalhart played tough trailing 14-7 in the first half. After a quarterback Gray Beasley 34-yard touchdown run that gave the Indians a 7-0 lead, Dalhart responded on the ensuing drive when Hunter Trusler hit Caden Bird wide open on a wheel route for a 60 plus yard score tying it up 7-7.
The momentum swung right before half for Dalhart and the Golden Wolves were never able to recover. Dalhart was driving inside the Indians 20. Bird took a handoff and had a big hole up the middle, but Bird was hit inside the five-yard line and fumbled allowing Jim Ned to recover at the one-yard line with 4:45 to play to the half.
In the second half, Jim Ned broke the game open on two more Beasley scores as Jim Ned walked away with the 35-7 victory. The senior Beasley did damage with his feet as well as his arm toting the rock 19 times for a game-high 119 yards with four touchdown runs. He was also 7-of-11 passing for 75 yards.
Dalhart’s Trusler finished 11-of-21 for 148 yards with a scoring pass and added 48 yards on the ground.
In another Class 3A Division I area clash, River Road saw its season come to an end falling to Vernon on Thursday night in Lubbock, 28-7. River Road ends the year at 5-7.
