Top 10 Texas Panhandle football performers from Week 10

Tell Bryant, Hereford, TE, Sr.

The physical tight end and one of the top pass catchers did his part during Hereford’s 30-21 come-from-behind win over Canyon in a key District 2-4A Division I clash Friday night. Bryant made it a tough night for Eagle defenders snagging seven catches for 125 yards with a touchdown.

Quaid Ferris, Bushland, QB, Jr.

The junior dual-threat QB rebounded from a rough outing at Shallowater with one of his best performances of the season during the Falcons 56-28 thumping of Dalhart on Friday. Through the air, Ferris was on point going 17-of-20 for 254 yards with three touchdowns. He then showed his ability to move out of the pocket eating up 95 yards rushing on 17 carries with a score.

Travon Lewis & Brendan Garcia, Wellington, RB-WR

The duo of Lewis and Garcia gave Wellington enough offense to get past a gritty Wheeler team for a 23-14 victory helping the Skyrockets clinch the District 5-2A Division II championship. Lewis led the running game carrying the ball 23 times for 122 yards while Garcia was the difference on the outside making six catches for 101 yards with two TDs.

Coltyn Fulton, Tascosa, QB, Jr.

The option quarterback put together a complete game that put the Rebels in the playoffs taking down crosstown rival Caprock 42-14. Fulton used his vision and speed to run right past the Longhorns for 183 yards on only 15 carries with four touchdowns. The junior quietly was 4-of-4 passing for 60 yards.

Reid Macon, West Plains, QB, Jr.

The West Plains field general is having quite the district run and that didn’t stop in the Wolves 42-14 road win against Dumas on Friday. Macon was responsible for 325 yards of offense throwing for 210 yards on 19-of-23 completions with two touchdowns, then chewing up 115 yards rushing on six carries.

The do-it-all junior for the Comanches scored three first half touchdowns and led a 60-plus yard game-winning drive that lifted West Texas High to a thrilling 28-27 win at home against Spearman on Friday night. On the ground, Winters was dazzling rushing for a game-high 32 times for 187 yards. Through the air, he also got the job done going 5-of-8 for 60 yards.

Julian Reese II, Palo Duro, QB, Soph.

The ever-improving sophomore kept the Dons in the playoff picture during a lopsided 34-6 win over Wichita Falls Legacy on Friday night. Reese II, or better known as “Deuce”, picked apart the Legacy defense on a near perfect passing night going 18-of-21 for 211 yards and four touchdowns.

Justen Trevino, Friona, QB, Friona, Sr.

After a very frustrating year Friona’s first win on the year couldn’t come at a more opportune time as the Chieftains are all of a sudden in the District 1-3A Division II playoff picture. Trevino had a night to remember getting Friona its first win going 7-of-9 for 167 yards passing on top of carrying the ball 13 times for 89 yards with a score.

Isaiah Martinez, Memphis, QB-DB, Sr.

The Cyclones captain made sure they had a reason to play next week as Memphis knocked off Clarendon 30-14. On the offensive side of the ball, Martinez went 10-of-16 for 243 passing yards with a touchdown. On the defense side, the defensive back made five tackles and snagged an interception.

Josh Whittington, Shamrock, WR, Sr.

Whittington highlighted Shamrock’s come-from-behind 30-28 win over Quanah catching an 11-yard go-ahead touchdown with five minutes to play from quarterback Philip Cook that helped secure the victory. On top of his heroics, Whittington led the team with 141 yards receiving on only five catches with three TDs.
