District 4-4A
West Plains wins outright 4-4A championship
In only the third year of the program, the West Plains Lady Wolves have made major strides and those strides paid off Tuesday night as West Plains swept rival Canyon at home, 25-20, 25-18, 25-17.
The Lady Wolves (27-11 overall) not only take the season series from the Lady Eagles (24-13) but also claim the program’s first ever outright district championship boasting a record of 13-1.
West Plains will now be the No. 1-seed in Class 4A Division I of the newly structured playoff system implemented by the University Interscholastic League this season.
Canyon, which finished third in District 4-4A at 11-3, will be the No. 2-seed in Division II.
Patterson fed off those assists with 12 kills and was also strong on the back row with 14 digs. Teammate Kynzie Ward finished with a team-high 14 kills and had three blocks.
Brooklyn Kinsey did her part on offense for Canyon with eight kills. Defensive specialist Landri Jay led the team with 21 digs.
Randall captures second place in District 4-4A
Randall went on the road and got a big win at Hereford to close out the regular season in four-sets 21-25, 25-18, 25-12, 25-18, on Tuesday night.
The Lady Raiders (27-13) finish the regular season in second place out of District 4-4A with a 12-2 mark. Randall will be the No. 1-seed in Class 4A Division II.
Senior Sidney Soria played a huge role in her final regular season game for the black and silver. The sensational setter did it all totaling 32 assists with 16 digs and 12 kills for a rare triple-double. Teammate Brooke Henderson posted a double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs while Kambree Gonzales landed seven aces.
Dumas and Hereford tie for fourth
The fourth and final playoff spot has yet to be decided in District 4-4A as of Tuesday night.
With a Dumas win over Pampa (25-22, 25-21, 18-25, 27-25) tacked on to Hereford’s loss to Randall the two teams tied in the district standings at 7-7.
Dumas (22-21 overall) and Hereford (24-19) are now set for a winner take all play-in game for that fourth and final postseason berth.
That play-in game will be set at a time and place to be determined.
Borger was able to close out the year in style beating Perryton in the other 4-4A match on Tuesday. The Lady Bulldogs brought home a sweep of the Rangerettes, 25-23, 25-18, 25-22.
District 3-5A
Amarillo High completes fifth straight unbeaten district season
The Amarillo High Lady Sandies kept an impressive streak going on the final night of the regular season.
With a road sweep at Lubbock-Cooper on Tuesday, 25-18, 25-20, 25-25, the Lady Sandies completed a fifth straight year of going unbeaten during a district schedule.
AHS completes the regular season at 35-6 overall and 16-0 in the league while pushing an eye-opening district win streak to 52 straight matches dating back to 2019.
The Lady Sandies will be the No. 1-seed heading into the Class 5A Division I playoffs. Lubbock-Cooper (28-13, 12-4 in district) finished third in 3-5A, but will be the No. 1-seed in Class 5A Division II heading into the postseason.
During Tuesday’s victory against the Lady Pirates, Payton Cash and Bennett Rea did a great job of making the offense move combining for 28 assists.
Cash led the way with 17 and Rea added 11. Sienna Cavalier took advantage of the fluid passing with 11 kills and Ellen Head paced the defense with 12 digs.
Tascosa heads to playoffs with momentum
The Tascosa Lady Rebels ended the regular season with momentum taking down Lubbock-Coronado on the road in four-sets, 25-13, 20-25, 25-21, 29-27.
Tascosa closes out the regular season at 32-9 overall and 14-2 in District 3-5A. The Lady Rebels are now headed to the Class 5A playoffs as the No. 2-seed in Division I. Lubbock Coronado (23-18, 10-6 in district) took the fourth and final spot and are the No. 2-seed in Division II.
Libby Miller and Addison Merrell tallied 65 assists on a big passing night for Tascosa. Miller dished out 35 assists to Merrell’s 30. Feeding off those passes were Berkley Harper who had a team-high 17 kills and Mollie Culp with 12 kills.
In two other 3-5A games Tuesday, Lubbock Monterey swept Palo Duro, 25-17, 25-13, 25-20. Lubbock High also got a win beating Plainview, 25-15, 25-23, 25-22.
District 1-3A
Bushland cruises to unbeaten district mark
For an unprecedented 19th straight year, the Bushland Lady Falcons capped a district championship campaign downing Friona in straight sets at home Tuesday, 25-14, 25-8, 25-8.
The Lady Falcons, who enter the playoffs as the No. 1-seed in Class 3A Division I, end the regular season at an impressive 39-4 overall and 8-0 in District 1-3A. Bushland also extends an incredible 97-game district win streak to next year that dates back to 2011.
Lilyann Shannon registered 11 kills and Bella Babbitt added seven. Mackenzie Sims posted a team-high 20 assists followed by Ansley Tiffin’s 14.
Avery Ramos went for 10 digs and three aces in the win. Teammate Ambree Hatfield also had three aces to go with seven kills.
Friona, River Road tie for third place
With Friona’s loss to Bushland on top of Dalhart sweeping River Road, 25-17, 25-23, 25-19, on Tuesday at the Wildcat Gym, both the Squaws and Lady Wildcats tied for the third spot out of District 1-3A at 3-5.
Friona (26-11) and River Road (22-14) have decided to flip for the third and fourth spot which will determine the top two seeds in the Class 3A Division II playoffs.
Dalhart (25-8-1) placed second in the district at 6-2 and enters as the No 2-seed in the Division I playoffs.
District 1-2A
Vega celebrates district championship
It was a special night for the Vega Lady Longhorns who were able to close out the District 1-2A schedule with a perfect record beating Sanford-Fritch at home, 25-12, 25-13, 21-25, 25-15, on Tuesday night.
Vega, which had secured the school’s first ever district title Saturday, celebrated the 1-2A title in front of their home fans while capping off an unbelievable year at 32-5 overall and a perfect mark of 6-0 in district.
Vega will be the top-seed heading into the Class 2A Division II playoffs. Sanford-Fritch (26-7) is the No. 1-seed entering the Division II side of the bracket.
In the other 1-2A match Tuesday, Highland Park defeated West Texas High, 19-25, 25-21, 26-24, 25-18.
The Lady Hornets (20-19) will be the No. 2-seed going into the Division I playoffs. West Texas High (20-14) is the No. 2-seed entering the Division II side.
District 1-1A
Fort Elliott celebrates district title; Kelton earns final playoff spot
Fort Elliott capped off a District 1-1A championship with a high-note getting a home sweep of Darrouzett on Tuesday night, 25-8, 25-4, 25-2.
The Lady Cougars marched through District 1-1A at 9-1 and were able to celebrate with the gold ball in front of their home fans.
Fort Elliott (17-7) heads to the playoffs as the top-seed out of the district.
Kelton was able to secure the third and final spot earning a thrilling win over Miami, 25-22, 17-25, 25-20, 20-25, 15-12.
With this monumental win, the Lady Lions (12-7) head to the Class 1A playoffs for the first time in over two decades.
In another match out of 1-1A on Tuesday, Wildorado survived a great test from Shamrock holding off the Lady Irish in five-sets, 22-25,25-22, 25-23, 22-25, 15-11.
The Lady Mustangs (10-14) head to the Class 1A postseason as the No. 2-seed out of the district.
