On the court: It was quite the week for Amarillo High’s senior leader. Cavalier sparked a huge five-set rally to help the Lady Sandies to get a come-from-behind win over rival Tascosa, and then followed that effort up with another big performance in a victory against Lubbock Monterey.

Against Tascosa, Cavalier posted a double-double going for 23 digs and 21 kills. In the win over Monterey, Cavalier once again led the team with 17 kills and added five digs.

On the season, the AHS outside hitter has 414 kills and has tallied 1,184 for her career. On top of those numbers, Cavalier has 240 digs with 25 aces this season so far.

Coach Haleigh Burns: “This team is doing what we need to do right now. We won a big game against Tascosa and we will play another big game against Lubbock-Cooper on Friday. I think we are working on who we need to be as a team to accomplish our goals of a district championship. Sienna has done an incredible job this season. Coming into her senior year where she wants to accomplish a lot of things on top of getting a new coach puts a lot of pressure on her, but I think she is handling it all so well. On this team she is asked to do a lot, be dominant, be a leader, stay positive and a million other things and I think she is killing it.”

Cavalier: “I feel this season has had a heck of a start with many accounts of growth. I feel from where this team started in the summer to now is incredible. We have grown in our relationships, our trust with one another and our connections with one another on the court. From where I was last year to now, I have seen the most change with my mindset, confidence and leadership. I am not easily swayed in my focus on the court. I have now grown to not be easily swayed with my confidence when I make a mistake, or something doesn’t go right. My team has definitely helped me with this and most importantly Coach Burns has helped tremendously.”
