The Childress thrower left her mark at Hayward Field competing against the top high school and college freshman. Wiseman proved she belonged finishing eighth during the u20 discus event, placed eighth in the Nike Outdoor National women’s shot-put event and then had a second place showing in the Nike Outdoor National women’s discus.
During the u20 discus event, Wiseman uncorked a throw of 162-feet-2 inches that met the standard for the U.S. World Championships. In the shot-put, Wiseman tossed a 45-2 1/2 and, in the Nike National Outdoor discus her second place throw was 159-0 1/2.
“It was weight off my shoulders to perform like I did,” Wiseman said. “I didn’t do that in the high school season, so I was able to show what I was capable of. I really wanted to show colleges what I was capable of. This meet did a lot for my confidence. It was awesome to go out and prove I belonged with the best.”
The Childress soon to be senior has solidified herself as the top female thrower in the Texas Panhandle and one of the best in the state of Texas overall. As a sophomore, Wiseman won the UIL Class 3A state discus championship and took silver in the shot put.
Wiseman’s mission now is to continue to put in the hard work and show colleges what she’s capable of to compete at the next level.
“Hard work pays off,” Wiseman said. “I love hard work and I love pushing myself. I want to show colleges that they can take a chance on me. I have a great grade point average, I want to compete in college. Coming into my senior year, I know I still have a lot of work to. I know what I’m capable of and that’s throwing 170-feet. I just want to grow and get better every day.”
