Bushland blasts Lubbock Roosevelt

The Bushland Lady Falcons picked up where they left off after an amazing district run by blasting Lubbock Roosevelt with a 12-0 blanking in the Class 3A bi-district round at the Amarillo High Lady Sandies Softball Complex on Friday afternoon.

Per usual, the Bushland bomb squad was out in full force led by slugger Abby Howell. The Lady Falcon senior slugger feasted on Lady Eagle pitching going 2-for-2 with a pair of two-run home runs finishing the game with four RBIs.

Teammate and senior leader Brylee Adams countered with a very special evening. Adams went 3-for-3 in the circle with a homer of her own with two RBIs. Adams also threw all five innings allowing only one hit racking up 12 strikeouts to go over 700 K’s for her illustrious career.

The Lady Falcons (25-5-1) will take on Presidio (11-16-1) in the area round at a time and place to be determined.

River Road sweeps Childress, Smirl gets win No. 300 

It was a very special series for the River Road Lady Cats and head coach David Smirl during a bi-district sweep of Childress on Thursday and Friday in Canadian.

River Road moved past the Lady Bobcats getting a 10-7 victory in game one followed by an 11-3 win in game two that completed the sweep.

The game two win meant the most to Smirl who earned his 300th career victory in 23 years. Smirl started the Tascosa Lady Rebels program 15 years ago and has spent the last six years as the Lady Wildcats head coach.

Sidnee Kane was the MVP of the series for the Lady Wildcats especially on Thursday. Kane torched Childress going 3-for-4 hitting a career-high three homers with five RBIs. Kane followed that effort with a three-run blast in game two.

River Road (21-9) advances to the area round to battle Alpine (19-16) at a time and place to be determined.

Childress ends its season at 18-11.

Tulia takes down Slaton 

After falling in game one, Tulia rallied back to take the next two games to beat Slaton in a best-of-three bi-district series on Saturday afternoon at Lubbock Christian High School.

On Friday, Slaton dominated Tulia 14-3 in the series opener only for the Lady Hornets to battle back to even the series with a 15-13 win in the night cap. On Saturday, Tulia was able to claim a 10-9 victory over Slaton to win the series.

Tulia (19-14-2) moves on to the area round and will now meet up with Lamesa (15-15-1) with the first of a three-game series starting at 6 p.m. on Thursday at Lubbock-Cooper.

In the decisive game three, Slaton led 9-8 in the top of the sixth until Tulia’s Jerrica Brookins delivered a two-run shot to centerfield that the ballpark couldn’t hold that gave the Lady Hornets the eventual win 10-9.

Kyla Rodriguez was key in the series for Tulia making her mark in game two going 4-for-4 at the dish hitting an eye-opening three home runs to finish with six RBIs.

Class 4A

West Plains sweeps Fort Stockton

West Plains made school history winning the programs first ever playoff series on Thursday and Friday by getting a sweep of Fort Stockton in Seminole.

The Lady Wolves earned a hard fought 4-3 win in game one and then took care of Fort Stockton in game two with a 9-2 victory.

West Plains hurler Jaylen Kaps went over 500 strikeouts for her career as the sophomore continues to show her dominance. Over the two games, Kaps threw all 14 innings giving up five earned runs totaling 23 strikeouts.

Kaps helped her own cause at the plate in game two going 3-for-5 with three RBIs. Emaree Chavez did all the damage for the Lady Wolves in game one drilling a grand slam in the top of the seventh to erase a 3-0 deficit and lift West Plains to victory.

West Plains (18-15-1) squares off with El Paso Riverside (16-16) in the area round at a time and place to be determined.

Randall advances past Andrews

It took all three games; however, the Randall Lady Raiders were able to advance past Andrews in the bi-district round on Friday and Saturday at Lubbock Christian University.

The Lady Raiders took the first game 10-4 but fell 14-9 in game two forcing a decisive game three. In the final matchup, Randall had no issues by rolling to a 12-1 victory.

Landri Holcomb highlighted the series win for Randall going a combined 5-for-11 with two homers and a total of seven RBIs.

Randall (20-17) is headed to the area round to play Clint (14-17) at a time and place to be determined.

Dumas downs Seminole 

The District 4-4A champion Dumas Demonettes had no problems in the bi-district round getting two lopsided wins over Seminole on Friday and Saturday in Plainview.

Dumas (28-6 overall) cruised in game one 13-5 then followed that victory with a 24-5 win to complete the sweep.

The Dumas bats were on full display hitting eight home runs as a team. Standout Vida Fierro was a combined 6-for-7 in the wins with two homers and six RBIs. Teammate Kati Contreras went 5-for-9 with three RBIs.

Dumas moves on to the area round to battle Bowie (12-11) with the first of a three-game series starting at 5 p.m. Friday in Seminole.

Pampa gets by Monahans for the second straight year

Like last year, it took all three games, but Pampa was able to get by Monahans in the bi-district round on Friday and Saturday in Littlefield.

Pampa won the series opener 8-4 only to see Monahans bounce back for a 16-3 win. In the game three rubber match, the Lady Harvesters were able to cruise to a 9-0 shutout.

The Lady Harvesters (16-12) will now head to the area round to play San Elizario (18-10) at a time and place to be determined.

Briley Daniels was clutch in game one for Pampa going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

Kassie Arnzen led the charge in game three with a 3-for-4 outing adding a double and four RBIs.

Class 2A

Sanford-Fritch soars past Quanah

Sanford-Fritch opened the Class 2A bi-district round in fine fashion beating up Quanah with a 21-0 run-rule victory at Palo Duro High School on Friday.

The Lady Eagles wasted no time jumping on Quanah scoring 20 runs in the first inning of the three-inning contest.

Hallie White led Fritch with a 2-for-3 effort including a double, scoring two runs and plated four RBI. Teammate Kalynn Roberts was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs and threw all three innings in the circle with six K’s.

The Lady Eagles (19-7) advance to the area round to meet Forsan (21-6-1) at a time and place to be determined.

Sunray smokes Memphis 

The Sunray Lady Bobcats made quick work of Memphis with an 18-0 shutout in the bi-district round on Thursday.

Sunray improves to 15-3 overall and is headed to face off with Sundown (21-3-1) in the area round at a time and place to be determined.
