2023 resume

Head coach: Aaron Dunnam, seventh year at Dumas, 51-21. Seventh year overall.
2023 Record: 4-7 overall, 2-2 in District 3-4A Division I. Class 4A Division I bi-district finalist.

Returning starters 

Offense: 5
Defense: 8
Season opener: at Caprock, 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at Dick Bivins Stadium.

Players to watch 

Johnny Marquez, 5-foot-10, 170-pounds, RB-WR-DB, Sr.

Marquez shined for the Demons all over the field last season. Defensively, Marquez was in on 103 tackles, 12 for a loss, forcing two fumbles. On the offensive side, Marquez showed his versatility with 405 yards receiving to go with five Tds.

Marquez will play a role on offense but it’s the secondary where he left his mark in 2023. Marquez was a ballhawk for Dumas with four interceptions, 11 pass breakups and finished the year with 59 tackles.

Colton Mills, 5-foot-9, 160-pounds, QB, Soph. 

Head coach Aaron Dunnam put a lot of trust into a freshman quarterback last season and Mills didn’t disappoint. Learning as he went, Mills showed major promise establishing himself as the Dumas signal caller throwing for 1,715 yards with 17 touchdowns.
