Muleshoe wins scoring fest at Dalhart
In a very unique situation, Muleshoe got a deflating victory against Dalhart 53-45 on Friday night in a crucial District 2-3A Division I matchup at Golden Wolves Stadium.
Yes, deflating was the feeling for the Mules who were fighting for second place with Dalhart going into Friday’s game. The scenario was Muleshoe had to beat the Golden Wolves by 10 points to grab outright second place. Anything less and Muleshoe would fall.
Muleshoe made things very exciting in this amazing game that saw a total of 98 points and over 1,000 yards of offense. So, get this, Muleshoe led 47-45 with over two minutes to play. Dalhart holding on to second place at the time was driving to win the game, however, a Kyler Read pass is intercepted by freshman defensive back Josue Sigala at the Muleshoe 15-yard line with a minute to play.
Since that happened, and Shallowater hammered River Road 56-0, Shallowater captured the No. 2-seed out of District 2-3A Division I behind Bushland. Muleshoe (8-2) is the No. 3-seed and Dalhart (7-3) goes to the No. 4.
Martens finished the night 14-of-20 for 160 yards and used his feet for two more scores on 58 yards. The Muleshoe running game was dynamic behind Daniel Sianez and Sigala. Sianez used his speed for 208 yards on 17 carries with three scores and Sigala added 107 yards with two touchdowns on 11 carries.
Dalhart’s Kyler Read threw for 174 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions and rushed for 92 yards with another score.

Canadian wins district title, finishes regular season with unbeaten record
The No. 2-ranked Canadian Wildcats are ready for what they hope is another deep playoff push by finishing off a perfect regular season with an 80-7 downing of Dimmitt on Friday night at Bobcats Stadium.
The Wildcats finish the year at 10-0 overall while claiming the outright District 3-3A Division II championship for a second straight year with a 5-0 mark. Canadian will now focus on playing Littlefield (6-4) in the Class 3A Division II bi-district round at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Dick Bivins Stadium. Dimmitt ends its year at 2-8.
In limited action, Canadian quarterback Camren Cavalier was solid going 14-of-18 for 278 yards with five touchdown passes. Receiver Preston Neumeier was his go-to weapon snagging five catches for 125 yards with three touchdowns of 39, 29 and 17 yards. Teammate Luke Flowers had a 65-yard punt return and added 57 yards receiving with a TD. The Wildcat offense put up 495 yards and held the Bobcats to 105.
Childress secures second place with victory over Friona
Childress had no issues going on the road and handling Friona during a 43-18 victory in a key District 3-3A Division II matchup on Friday night at Chieftains Stadium.
The win puts the Bobcats (7-3) as the No. 2-seed behind Canadian in the district at 4-1. Childress will get a rematch from earlier in the season with Abernathy (5-5) in the bi-district round at 7 p.m. on Friday in Floydada. Friona (5-5) is the No. 3-seed at 3-2 in the district and will play Lubbock Roosevelt in the opening round at 7 p.m. Friday in Tulia.
Senior Da’Reon Mathis continues his stellar play for Childress with another great game. Mathis did his job on the ground toting the rock 20 times for 138 yards with a pair of scores. Quarterback Drake Rabe also delivered with 231 yards passing on 15-of-28 completions with a touchdown. Rabe’s favorite target was Isaiah Jalamo who made four catches for 142 yards with a 77-yard touchdown snag.
Friona’ Cade Seamen tallied 113 yards on 13 carries for a touchdown.
Spearman blanks Tulia for fourth and final playoff spot
For a second straight year, the Spearman Lynx took care of business on the final night of the regular season to punch a ticket to the postseason.
Spearman jumped all over Tulia in all three phases of the game for a 42-0 shutout against the Hornets on Friday to secure the fourth and final playoff berth out of District 3-3A Division II.
The Lynx (4-6), who were in this same position a year ago, will take on District 4-3A Division II champion, Idalou (6-4), at 4 p.m. on Friday, at Happy State Bank Stadium in Canyon. Tulia ends its year at 1-9.
The Lynx blistered Tulia with a devasting ground attack piling up 376 of their 509 yards on the ground. JP Carbajal led the charge finishing the game with 13 carries for 162 yards with three touchdown totes of 30, 20 and 18 yards. Quarterback Cy Davis played efficient going 5-of-7 for 133 yards passing with a touchdown, adding 35 rushing yards.
The Spearman defense limited the Hornets to 77 total yards of offense.
