Lubbock Monterey (4-5, 2-3) at Amarillo High (4-5, 3-2), 7 p.m.
Amarillo High is too good not to take care of business against the most undisciplined team in the district. Now, Monterey is riding high off that crazy late win last week over rival Coronado. But AHS wants that No. 3 seed and Coach Dunnam makes sure the Sandies take care of biz. … Amarillo High 28, Monterey 7

District 1-2A
Division II

Boys Ranch (0-2, 2-7) at Gruver (7-2, 2-0), 7 p.m.
The Greyhounds can claim the outright District 1-2A Division I title with a win on Senior Night. … Gruver 45, Boys Ranch 12

District 2-1A
Division I

Wildorado (2-7, 0-2) at Nazareth (3-6, 1-1), 7:30 p.m.
Nothing would make the Mustangs happier than to go on the road and beat the Swifts and knock them out of the playoffs. However, Nazareth got a wakeup call last week and they won’t be in any mood to be hospitable guests with a playoff berth on the line. …Nazareth 52, Wildorado 20

District 4-1A
Division I

Valley (4-5, 1-1) at Northside (6-3, 0-2), 7 p.m.
Despite falling just short of upsetting the top team in the state, the Patriots proved to themselves they can compete with anyone.  The Patriots have set themselves up to be a tough out once the playoffs roll around and the Indians find out why. …Valley 60, Northside 13

District 1-1A
Division II

Darrouzett (1-8, 1-2) at Lefors (2-7, 1-2), 7 p.m.
The Pirates were just over a minute away from a playoff berth before falling to Groom last week. Lefors won’t be sulking over that loss and the Longhorns will be walking the plank. …Lefors 54, Darrouzett 6

Friday’s games

Caprock (1-8, 0-5) at Lubbock Cooper (6-3, 4-1), 7 p.m.
The Rock would love to end its season with a W. But Cooper is a playoff team for good reason. … Cooper 42, Caprock 14

District 2-5A
Division II

Plainview (5-4, 1-3) at Palo Duro (3-5, 1-3), 7 p.m.
Here we are again. Just like last year final game of the season and the winner is in the playoffs while the loser is done for 2023. Last year PD won 35-32. Why not history repeating itself. … Palo Duro 35, Plainview 32

Lubbock High (2-7, 0-4) at Wichita Falls Rider (7-2, 4-0), 7 p.m.
Rider wins district with a perfect 5-0 record. … Rider 55, Lubbock High 14

Abilene Wylie (6-3, 3-1) at Abilene Cooper (4-5, 3-1), 7 p.m.
Both teams are in the playoffs but a lot at stake as winner gets No. 2 seed and a home playoff game. Cooper has won three in a row and makes it four at home. … Cooper 31, Wylie 30

– Lance Lahnert
Last week: 6-0 (1.000)
Season: 35-8 (.813)

District 3-4A
Division I

Dumas (4-5, 2-1) at Hereford (6-3, 1-2), 7 p.m.
This one’s all about position, as neither team can snag a district championship or a No. 1 seed and are just looking for the highest seeding they can get. Dumas will get the No. 2 seed with a victory. Both teams are coming off close games but with markedly different results, as Dumas beat Canyon with a last-second field goal and Hereford lost to Randall in overtime. Expect another close one here, but Dumas has momentum from last week and will carry it into this one. … Dumas 24, Hereford 21

Pampa (2-7, 0-3) at Canyon (7-2, 2-1), 7 p.m.
These two teams couldn’t enter this game from more opposite directions. Pampa is eliminated from the playoffs and playing for pride and experience while Canyon will get the No. 1 playoff seed and a share of the district championship with a win. The Eagles are still smarting from their heartbreaking loss to Dumas, but the combination of getting the top playoff seed, a share of the district title, their final home game and taking momentum into the playoffs should be more than enough incentive to lift them to victory. … Canyon 41, Pampa 7

District 2-4A
Division II

West Plains (8-1, 3-0) at Borger (4-5, 1-2), 7 p.m.
Not even positioning is at stake in this one, as West Plains is guaranteed the district’s No. 1 seed and Borger is the No. 4 seed. West Plains has been an upstart for two years, but maybe not much longer as success is now expected from the Wolves. After an open week, their concern will have to be knocking off some rust. Borger carries the momentum from going back to the playoffs after a rough couple of years. That, and their final home game, could give the Bulldogs some juice. It won’t be enough to win. … West Plains 38, Borger 13

Perryton (3-6, 2-1) at Seminole (8-1, 2-1), 7 p.m.
In terms of (there’s that word again) positioning, this is as clear-cut as it gets. The winner will be the No. 2 seed and the loser No. 3, making this more like a playoff game. Aside from a loss to West Plains, Seminole has looked fairly invincible. Perryton, though, has found some offense with the move of Julian Cervantes from quarterback to receiver, where he’s been a huge threat on the perimeter. That makes for a potentially high-scoring game, but Seminole has a little more depth and versatility in the end. … Seminole 35, Perryton 24

– Lee Passmore
Last week: 3-1 (.750)
Season: 39-10 (.796)

District 2-3A
Division I

Muleshoe (7-2, 1-2) at Dalhart (7-2, 2-1), 7 p.m.
There is a lot of ways to look at this game and where these two teams can land. It’s easy for Dalhart. Take care of business at home and secure second place outright. However, if the Mules can win by 10 or more it’s Muleshoe earning that second spot. If Muleshoe wins by nine to seven points, Shallowater gets second. Confused yet? Me too. … Let’s go with the Golden Wolvesjust to make it easy. … Dalhart 30, Muleshoe 21

River Road (1-8, 0-3) at Shallowater (4-5, 1-2), 7 p.m.
The Wildcats are playing for nothing but pride while the Mustangs have a lot more at stake. Shally must beat River Road and then hope that Muleshoe wins but only by nine to seven points against Dalhart so the Mustangs can claim second place. Otherwise, it’s third or fourth place for the Mustangs. … Shallowater 48, River Road 12

District 3-3A
Division II

Canadian (9-0, 4-0) at Dimmitt (2-7, 1-3), 7 p.m.
The Wildcats take the outright district championship and finish off an undefeated regular season with a victory on the road. … Canadian 57, Dimmitt 7

Childress (6-3, 3-1) at Friona (5-4, 3-1), 7 p.m.
This is a simple one. The winner is the No. 2-seed out of the district with the winner taking third. … Childress 30, Friona 27

Spearman (3-6, 1-3) at Tulia (1-8, 0-4), 7 p.m.
If the Lynx don’t mess around and take care of what they need to, Spearman will win this game and claim the fourth and final playoff spot out of District 3-3A Division II. … Spearman 45, Tulia 13

– Kale Steed
Last week: 3-2 (.600)
Season: 48-8 (.857)

District 1-2A
Division I

Panhandle (8-1, 3-1) at Farwell (7-2, 3-1), 7 p.m.
It’s another scenario that plays right out. The winner of this clash is the second-place team out of District 1-2A Division I while the loser gets the No. 3 spot. Panhandle has too much firepower in the end. … Panhandle 40, Farwell 20

West Texas High (4-5, 2-2) at Stratford (9-0, 4-0), 7 p.m.
The Elks finish off a perfect regular season and win the outright district title in convincing fashion. … Stratford 48, WT High 14

Highland Park (4-5, 0-4) at Sanford-Fritch (0-9, 0-4), 7 p.m.
Both teams have been eliminated from playoff contention, but don’t expect either one to lay down. One of these teams will end the year on a high note. … Highland Park 35, Sanford-Fritch 14

District 1-2A
Division II

Vega (2-6, 1-1) at Sunray (7-2, 1-1), 7 p.m.
Stop me if you have heard this before. The winner earns second place out of the district while the loser will be third. … Sunray 49, Vega 16

District 2-2A
Division II

Clarendon (6-3, 4-0) at Wellington (7-2, 4-0), 7 p.m.
The Broncos and Skyrockets have outscored their district opponents by a combined 358-12. So, it’s only fitting the two most dominating teams face off for the outright district championship. Wellington has yet to allow a point during league play and will do everything they can to slow down the outstanding Lyric Smith. … Wellington 34, Clarendon 14

Memphis (0-8, 0-4) at Shamrock (4-5, 1-3), 7 p.m.
The Irish are in the playoffs as the No. 4-seed with a victory. … Shamrock 48, Memphis 6

Quanah (1-8, 1-3) at Wheeler (3-6, 2-2), 7 p.m.
Wheeler heads to the postseason riding momentum with back-to-back wins. … Wheeler 35, Quanah 7

District 3-2A
Division II

Bovina (2-7, 1-3) at Lockney (6-3, 3-1), 7 p.m.
Although the Mustangs are eliminated from the playoffs, Bovina could throw a big wrench into Lockney’s bid for a No. 1-seed if they can play the spoiler. Expect Bovina to fight to the end. … Lockney 39, Bovina 28

– Kale Steed
Last week: 7-1 (.875)
Season: 60-11 (.845)

District 1-1A
Division I

Follett (6-3, 1-1) at McLean (6-3, 1-1), 7 p.m.
An intriguing matchup because the winner punches a ticket to the playoffs while the loser heads to basketball. Both teams have played some quality opponents this year, but the Panthers have looked more impressive in those games. The Tigers won’t roll over, but Follett is playing well. …Follett 62, McLean 28

White Deer (3-6, 0-2) at Miami (9-0, 2-0), 7 p.m.
Hats off to Justin Rucker and his dirty dozen team this year. They never gave up, but their season ends tonight at the hands of the only Amarillo-area Six-Man squad that is undefeated. The Warriors are out to prove their record is no mirage. …Miami 52, White Deer 8

District 2-1A
Division I

Claude (3-6, 1-1) at Happy (8-1, 2-0), 7 p.m.
Coming off a heartbreaking loss to Nazareth, the Mustangs want a shot at the playoffs and will be looking to upset a Six-Man blue blood in their own backyard. Look for the Mustangs to give it all they have but the talent and experience of Happy will be too much to overcome at the Cowboy Corral. …Happy 60 Claude 40

Non-district

Booker (6-4) vs. Weatherford Christian (6-4), 6 p.m. at Guthrie
The de facto “Outlaw Bowl” pits the top two ranked teams among independents in the state of Texas. On the surface, the records lead you to believe this should be a very tight game. However, Booker’s schedule has been much tougher with all four losses against playoff teams with three of those ranked in the top 10 of the state. The Kiowas love the move down and will celebrate that in Guthrie. …Booker 59 Weatherford Christian 27

– Craig Sperry
Last Week: 7-1 (.875)
Season: 66-12 (.846)
