Amarillo-area boys bi-district basketball scores for February 21st

3 things that happened in Tuesday’s bi-district round 

Amarillo ISD makes it a clean sweep

Amarillo High, Tascosa and Palo Duro were all successful to open the UIL Class 5A bi-district round on Friday night.

Amarillo High downed Lubbock-Cooper 60-46, Palo Duro beat Abilene Cooper 50-42 and Tascosa survived Lubbock Coronado 62-59.

The Dons keep their tradition of excellence going under head coach Jeff Evans advancing to the area round for the 21st time in 22 years. Audi Luckey led Palo Duro in the win with 16 points. AHS was led by Braden Hausen’s 16 in the Sandies victory, and the Rebels had a big fourth quarter to hold on against Coronado with Jacorey Fields pouring in a team-high 17.

Follett cracks century mark

Follett opened the Class 1A bi-district round making quite the statement by taking it to Hedly 100-43 on Tuesday night.

In a rare feat, the Panthers piled on the points opening the game with 32 in the first quarter and 58 by halftime. Follett finished with four players in double figures highlighted by Jayden Watson’s 30 points. Teammate Julian Barton scored 19 followed by Maddox Miller’s 17 and Justin Humbert’s 14 points.

Tuesday’s top performers

Stratton Potter didn’t show any rust after a two-week layoff piling up 33 points in Texline’s 90-30 win over Hart in the Class 1A bi-district round.

As usual Childress guard Lamont Nickleberry was a highlight for the Bobcats scoring a game-high 18 points to lift the Bobcats past Dalhart 58-46 in the Class 3A bi-district round.

Jefferson Weaver of Gruver had a superb performance with 19 points during the Greyhounds 64-34 victory over Wheeler in a Class 2A bi-district round clash.
