District 3-5A
Amarillo High made it a clean sweep during the District 3-5A cross country meet on Thursday at Rick Klein Park.
The Lady Sandies dominated scoring 22 points to beat second place Tascosa (62 points). Amarillo High had six runners place in the top 10. Emma Winslow won the individual championship for Amarillo High with a 5K time of 19:19.01.
On the boys’ side, the Sandies scored 23 points to knock off rival Tascosa’s 59 points. The Sandies team seven runners place in the top 10 with five of those runners finishing in the top eight. Amarillo High’s Noah Watt won the individual title clocking a 5K time of 15.12.94.
District 4-4A
It was the Canyon boys team and the Randall Lady Raiders walking away with District 4-4A crowns on Friday at Canyon High School.
The Canyon boys dominated competition scoring an eye-opening 15 points to blast past second place Dumas with 59 points. The Eagles took the first six spots individually with Alexander Niemiec coming away as the individual district champion pacing a 3-mile time of 15:31.54.
The Randall girls won a very competitive girls race. The Lady Raiders tallied 32 points to hold off second place Dumas’ 44 points, and third place Canyon’s 47 points. The sister combination of Sadie and Sierra Sanchez led Randall with a third and fourth place finish. Sadie ran a 2-mile time of 11:29.77, followed by Sierra’s 11:31.97. Canyon did finish 1-2 during the individual race. Avery Brown was the district champion with an impressive time of 11:00.38 and right behind Brown was teammate Abree Winfrey clocking a 11:18.78.
District 1-3A
Canadian took home both the boys and girls district championships at the District 1-3A meet in Spearman on Wednesday.
After not winning a district title since 1996, the Lady Cats have now won back-to-back championships scoring 40 points to beat Dalhart (55 points). Canadian sophomore runner Konnar McClendon won her second straight 1-3A championship by leading the field with a 2-mile time of 12:34.31. Teammate Arionna Black was second (12:53.97) and Spearman’s Braylen Lusby took third (12:56.88).
On the boys side, Canadian barely held off Dalhart to claim the district win. Canadian scored 39 points to edge the Golden Wolves who finished with 45 points. The Wildcats were led by Juan Vargas who had a fifth-place finish thanks to running an 18:06.56. Bushland’s Zackary Nichols was the individual champion pacing a 17:03.72.
District 1-2A
The Booker boys and Gruver girls are District 1-2A champions after impressive showings on Wednesday in Stratford.
The Gruver Lady Hounds scored 29 points to pull away from West Texas High’s 66 points which was good enough for second place. Gruver’s multi-sport star and Oklahoma State basketball commit Brenna Butler won the individual title with a 2-mile time of 13:03.
Booker earned 35 points which was enough to beat Gruver (54 points) for the district championship. Booker placed five runners in the top 10 led by Adrian Rosales who won the district crown pacing a 17:13.
District 2-2A
On Wednesday in Shamrock, it was the Clarendon Lady Broncos and the Quanah Indians punching tickets to the regional meet with district championships.
Clarendon scored 25 points for first place, followed by Wellington’s 42 points. The Lady Broncos placed five athletes in the top 10 with Kenidee Hayes finishing third clocking a 12:40.
Quanah won the boys meet with 22 points, as Memphis and Shamrock came in second and third. Robinson Ryder of Memphis earned a district individual title by running a 17:09.
District 3-2A
It was the Boys Ranch boys’ team and the Farwell Lady Steers bringing home District 3-2A championships Wednesday at Boys Ranch.
The Roughriders took the top three individual spot with Kaden Tovar winning the event clocking a time of 18:16.
Farwell used 48 points to beat Panhandle which took second with 62 points. Bella Jaime was superb while winning the district title for Farwell thanks to a time of 12:34.
District 1-1A
Follett came away with a team sweep with both teams winning the District 1-1A meet on Monday.
The Follett Lady Panthers scored 25 points edging McLean’s 30 points. The Follett Panthers team tallied 17 points to ease past Darrouzett’s 72 points.
Follett’s Kambri Braley won the girls individual title with a time of 14:14. Julian Barton won the boys championship for Follett clocking a 17:36.
District 2-1A
While the boys’ side didn’t boast a champion, the White Deer girls are crowned as the District 1-2A champions by holding off Claude. The Lady Bucks registered 31 points to the Lady Mustangs 50. Taysen Swires led White Deer by placing second overall running a 14:15. Silverton’s Melody Rampley won the district title with a 13:57. Though there wasn’t a team winner, Silverton’s Alex Acevedo won the boys district title clocking a 19:57.
District 3-1A
It was a solid meet for the Wildorado Lady Mustangs and the Texline Tornadoes to both win District 3-1A team championships.
Individually, Wildorado’s Jaycee Wetsel was the district winner pacing a 15:12. Texline’s Joe Clay won the district title with a time of 18:23.
District 4-1A
The Nazareth Swiftettes held off Springlake-Earth to bring home the District 3-1A championship, while the Happy boys held off Nazareth to win their respective district title.
Nazareth placed four girls in the top 10 with Madison Brockman leading the way placing fourth overall (13:59). Two-time defending Class 1A state champion Taytum Goodman from Springlake-Earth dominated the meet clocking a 11:37.47.
Happy had three runners place in the top 10. Brance Ferguson was the individual winner of the meet thanks to a time of 18:33.47.
