Max Neff, Pampa, RB, Fr.

The freshman is off to a stellar start to his high school career. After rushing for 130 yards in his debut against Big Spring last week, Neff torched the Plainview defense in a 25-21 win chewing up an eye-opening 297 yards on only 23 carries averaging 12.9 yards per carry with two touchdowns.

Derek Clements, Canyon, Sr. QB

The 6-foot-4 gunslinger helped put up the points in a 49-27 win over Perryton. Clements picked a part the Rangers secondary with his pinpoint accuracy going 24-of-37 for 335 yards and a career-high six touchdown passes.

Treshun Wilson, Tascosa, FB, Jr.

The Tascosa Rebels mashed Midland Legacy piling up 414 rushing yards in a statement win 48-27 on Friday night. Legacy was given a heavy dose of the fullback Wilson during the game as the junior pounded his way to a game-high 101 yards.

Isaiah Brown, Boys Ranch, QB-LB, Sr.

Boys Ranch is off to its first 2-0 start since 2011 and Brown was a big reason why. The senior was electric during a come-from-behind 34-33 win over Highland Park, totaling 307 total yards with three combined touchdowns. Brown completed 8-of-16 passes for 145 yards with two passing touchdowns then rushed for 162 yards on 22 carries for another score. Defensively, Brown made eight tackles from his linebacker position.

Charley Pitt, Bushland, DL, Jr.

The Bushland defense made a statement during a 47-21 over No. 3 Canadian. Pitt was a part of a Falcons defense line that intimidated the Wildcats offense making nine tackles with a sack. The Falcons were credited with a total of six sacks and forced four turnovers that resulted in 27 points in the victory.

Delco Gonzalez, Caprock, LB, Sr.

Gonzales came up with a key play thanks to a 65-yard scoop and score touchdown off a Palo Duro fumble in the first half of a 23-3 victory Thursday. Gonzales ended his evening making five tackles, two for a loss and a sack. Caprock’s defense has allowed only 10 points through eight quarters so far through the first two games of the year.

Charlie Sepeda, Memphis, RB, Jr.

Sepeda was the story for the Memphis Cyclones in a 32-6 blowout win over Electra. The junior running back was hard for the Tigers to stop toting the rock 20 times for 104 yards that included a 64-yard touchdown scamper.

Daniel Herrera, Bovina, QB, Jr.

The junior signal caller was more than efficient leading the Mustangs to their first win of the year, 26-20, over Seagraves. Herrera went 17-of-29 for 310 yards with two touchdown tosses and added another score on the ground.

Hugo Avila, Booker, QB, Sr.

The Kiowas are off to their first 2-0 start since 2014 and Avila is a key reason why. With Booker trailing 18-14 in the fourth quarter, Avila led his team down the field connecting with Leo Banuelos on a 10-yard touchdown pass that gave Booker a 20-18 lead it’d never relinquish. Avila finished the game completing 10-of-16 passes for 91 yards and throwing the eventual game-winning TD.
