H.S. Soccer playoffs get underway

The UIL Texas High School Soccer playoffs get underway on Thursday and Friday for a host of Texas Panhandle schools.

The Palo Duro Lady Dons are the only Thursday game, as Palo Duro (8-13-2) travels to face District 4-5A winner, Lubbock-Cooper in a bidistrict clash at 5 p.m.

On Friday, it’s a full slate of Amarillo-area games.

In Class 5A boys action, District 3-5A champion, Palo Duro (21-1-2) will take on Abilene Wylie at 7 p.m., on the pitch of Lubbock Monterey High School. The Dons are led by junior Jaime Carrillo. Carrillo has scored 48 goals and dished out 13 assists this season.

In Class 4A, the Pampa Harvesters (17-2-1) went unbeaten through district to claim the outright title. Pampa squares off with Clint Mountain View in the bidistrict round at 1 p.m. Friday in Midland. Striker Justin Martinez is having a career season netting 48 goals.

On the girls side, District 3-5A champion, Amarillo High (19-1-2) opens the playoffs against Abilene Wylie at 5 p.m. Friday, at Frenship.

Senior Nicole Gray has been a leader for the Lady Sandies scoring 23 goals with 12 assists.

In Class 4A, Canyon was the class of District 2-4A. The Lady Eagles (14-8-1) start the playoffs with Clint at 3:30 p.m. Friday in Midland.

Randall (6-11-3) at Lubbock-Cooper, 6 p.m. Friday

Pampa (17-2-1) vs. Clint Mountain View, 1 p.m. Friday

Borger (7-9-3) vs. El Paso Riverside, 1 p.m. Friday,

Dumas (7-13-4) vs. Clint, 1 p.m. Friday

Canyon (3-17-2) vs. San Elizario, 1 p.m. Friday
