HS Soccer roundup: Lady Sandies stay hot; Caprock boys open district with a win

AHS blanks Tascosa

Amarillo High is off to an extremely fast start to open district thanks to its stellar offense.

The Lady Sandies scored four times in the first half and never looked back shutting out rival Tascosa 6-0 on Friday night at Dick Bivins Stadium.

AHS has yet to allow a goal in two District 3-5A victories, outscoring Palo Duro and Tascosa by a combined 17-0.

The Lady Sandies move to 12-2-2 overall, and 2-0-0 in league action. Tascosa is now 3-10-0, 0-2-0.

AHS forward Nicole Gray was tough to stop during the win netting two goals to go with an assist. Teammate Lily Sobey added three assists and scored a goal of her own.

Randall shuts out Caprock

Randall kept pace with Amarillo High gaining an impressive 3-0 home victory over Caprock on Friday.

After a defensive start, Randall got its offense moving with goals from Sydney Lanigan Cali Bessent. The Lady Raiders then tacked on an insurance score in the second half when Alli Ingham found the back of the net. Bessent added an assist to to with her goal.

The Lady Raiders move to 2-0-0 in District 3-5A and 10-2-1 overall. Caprock drops to 6-9-1, 0-1-0.

District 4-4A

Canyon soars past Pampa

The Canyon Lady Eagles had a very convincing start to open District 4-4A by getting a 4-0 blanking of Pampa on the road Friday.

Canyon’s Makenzie Roberts touted a big match with a goal and two assists in the win. Teammate Gracie Van Winkle added a goal and an assist of her own.

The Lady Eagles move to 7-8-1 overall and 1-0-0 in district. Pampa falls to 6-8-0, 0-1-0.

Borger-Dumas play to draw

Dumas and Borger played to a 3-3 tie in a District 4-4A opener at Borger on Friday afternoon.

The Demonettes move their record to 2-7-1 overall, and 0-0-1. The Lady Bulldogs are 1-10-1, 0-0-1. Yassmin Marchan had all three assists for Dumas.

Boys

District 3-5A

Sandies roll over Rebels

The Amarillo High Sandies bounced back from a district opening loss to Palo Duro by handling rival Tascosa 4-1 on Friday night at Dick Bivins Stadium.

Sandies junior Braeden Wilson had a big night against the Rebels racking up a hat trick in the victory. Teammate Carter Neely also scored, while Braeden Williamson and Seth Scroggins each had an assist.

The Sandies run their record to 10-3-1 overall, and 1-1-0 in District 3-5A. Tascosa falls to 5-6-1 overall and 0-1-1.

Caprock outlasts Randall

Caprock opened District 3-5A action that resulted in a late second half goal to come away with a 2-1 win at Randall on Friday night.

Caprock had taken a 1-0 first half lead off an unassisted goal by Jose Navarette at the 28 minute mark. Randall answered before half to tie the game when Amel Hadzisabic netted the Raiders lone score.

Caprock’s David Zubia had the decisive goal in the 73rd minute putting the Longhorns up for good, 2-1.

Caprock improves to 7-3-3 overall, and 1-0-0 in district. Randall (5-7-1) is still looking for its first district win dropping to 0-1-1.

District 4-4A

Pampa pummels Canyon

Pampa is off to a fast start in district with a convincing 5-0 shutout of Canyon at home Friday night.

Justin Martinez was the story for the Harvesters. Martinez scored four of the five goals for Pampa and added an assist.

The Harvesters run their record to 10-2-1 overall, and 1-0-0 in league action. Canyon is 3-11-1, 0-1-1.

Borger edges Dumas

Borger scored a first half goal and made it stand up to edge Dumas in a very competitive 1-0 contest to open District 4-4A on Friday night.

The lone goal came at the 20 minute mark of the first half when freshman Abdel Lozano found the back of the net for the Bulldogs off an assist from Clay Elliott.

Borger, last year’s district champion, is now 4-6-1 overall, but more importantly 1-0-0 in district. Dumas drops to 2-8-0, 0-1-0.
