HS Volleyball roundup: Randall impresses in opener; AHS, Tascosa, Bushland cruise

10 Texas Panhandle Six-man football players to watch in 2026

The high school volleyball season got off to a fast and furious start with every team from the Texas Panhandle hitting the court for the first time in 2021 on Tuesday night.

Randall opened the season in fine form sweeping a triangular by besting Abilene Wylie and Dumas at the RHS Gym.

The Lady Raiders took care of Wylie thanks to a 25-21, 25-18, 25-16 sweep, following that effort with an impressive victory against Dumas, 25-15, 25-12, 25-15, in the night cap.

Randall outside hitters Paris Patterson and Jordyn Gove had big games. Gove combined for 20 kills to go with 27 digs, while Patterson tallied a total of 22 kills and 26 digs.

The Lady Raiders are 2-0 to start the year.

Bell street rival Amarillo High made a long road trip to the Permian Basin worth it nabbing, 29-27, 27-25, 24-26, 25-23, win against Midland Legacy.

Setter Jo Moffitt, the daughter of Lady Sandies head coach, Mike Moffitt, dished out 54 assists, while Brielle Worley and Currie Murasak combined for 38 kills.

Tascosa also found the W column with a pair of wins getting past Midland Greenwood, 25-18, 25-15, 25-14, followed by a sweep of Lubbock Monterey, 25-21, 25-20, 25-20.

Liv Sims racked up a combined 27 kills in the victories.

Last but not least, UIL Class 3A defending state champion Bushland picked up where it left off last year. The Lady Falcons went on the road and defeated Canyon in a high-profile opener, 25-17, 25-20, 25-14.

Kaela Neie had 14 kills and four aces. Senior Libero Jaycee Adams hit the hardwood for 24 digs.
