There was absolutely no rust from a 20-day layoff as West Texas A&M shot lights out from the perimeter tying a program record with 21 3-pointers on the way to blasting Angelo State 102-81 in a Lone Star Conference meeting at the First United Bank Center on Thursday.
The No. 5-ranked Buffs, who haven’t played in almost three weeks due to COVID-19 protocols are 6-1 overall with a 4-1 mark in league play.
WT couldn’t miss against the Rams (5-7, 4-7) shooting 60 percent (21-of-35) from beyond the arc as they extended their win streak to 11 games against ASU.
JoJo Murray filled did his damage 25 points, 12 rebounds and six assists, followed by Qua Grant’s 20 points. It was the 32nd time in Grant’s career to finish with 20 or more points. Jon’il Fugett, Hayden Blankley and JT Warren also reached double figures.

“When we move the basketball and push the tempo, and get it going from side to side we have a lot of guys that can knock down shots,” WT coach Tom Brown said. “I thought we did that in this game. We moved the ball and shot it tremendously. We also played good defense, Angelo State is a very dangerous team.”

Player of the game
Junior JoJo Murray was electric against Angelo State earning a double-double with 25 points and 12 rebounds to go with six assists. Murray finished the contest going 10-of-21 from the field, and 5-of-9 from 3-point range. Murray has scored in double figures in six of the Buffs seven games on the year.
