Who’s in, who’s out: Most likely playoff scenario for each Texas Panhandle district

The small school classifications consisting from Class 4A to Class 1A wrap up the Texas High School Football regular season Thursday and Friday. Here’s a look at the most likely playoff scenario for each district involving Texas Panhandle teams.

District 3-4 Division I

Who’s in: Dumas, Canyon, Pampa, Hereford

Who’s out: Nobody

Most likely scenario

Dumas (8-1, 2-0): Can clinch a fourth straight district championship with a win against Pampa.

Canyon (7-1, 1-1): Will clinch the No. 2-seed if they beat Hereford. Can earn a share of the district championship if Pampa beats Dumas.

Pampa (8-1, 1-1): Can clinch a share of the district title by defeating Dumas. If the Harvesters win by 15 points or more they are the No. 1-seed. If Pampa wins by 14, it’s a three-way tie then a coin flip for seeding.

Hereford (3-5, 0-2) : Can move to the No. 3-seed with a win against Canyon by 15 points or more.

District 2-4A Division II

Who’s in: Lubbock Estacado, Perryton

Who’s out: Nobody

Most likely scenario

Estacado (4-6, 3-1): Has clinched the district championship and No. 1-seed.

Perryton (3-5, 2-1) : Will clinch the No. 2-seed with a win against Borger.

Seminole (3-6, 1-2): Clinches a playoff spot with by beating Levelland, or a Borger loss to Perryton.

Levelland (2-7, 1-2): Is in the playoffs with a win against Seminole, or a Borger loss to Perryton.

Borger (1-8, 1-2): Are in the playoffs with a victory against Perryton. Borger can also move as high as the No. 2-seed if they beat the Rangers by 14 or more points.

District 2-3A Division I

Who’s in: Bushland, Dalhart

Who’s out: Nobody

Most likely scenario

Bushland (7-2, 4-0): Has clinched the district championship and No. 1-seed.

Dalhart (6-3, 2-1): Will be the No. 2-seed with a victory at River Road.

Littlefield (2-6, 1-2): Can lock up the No. 3-seed with a win at Muleshoe.

River Road (4-5, 1-2): Clinches a playoff berth by beating Dalhart, or Littlefield win against Muleshoe. Can move up to the No. 2-seed with a victory, and a Muleshoe win against Littlefield.

District 3-3A Division II

Who’s in: Canadian, Childress, Spearman

Who’s alive: Friona, Highland Park

Who’s out: Dimmitt

Most likely scenario

Canadian (8-1, 5-0): Clinches a seventh straight district title by beating Childress.

Spearman (8-1, 4-1): Goes into the playoffs as the No. 2-seed with a win against Tulia, and a Canadian victory. Earns share of the district championship with a win against Tulia, and if Childress downs Canadian by less than 11 points.

Childress (7-1, 4-1): Will gain a share of the district championship, and the No. 1-seed if they beat Canadian by 11 points or more. If Canadian and Spearman win, the Bobcats are the No. 3-seed.

Friona (5-4, 2-3): Will secure the fourth and final playoff spot with a home win against Highland Park.

Highland Park (2-7, 2-3): Will clinch the fourth and final playoff spot by beating Friona.

District 1-2A Division I

Who’s in: Panhandle, Farwell, Olton

Who’s alive: WT High, Sanford-Fritch

Who’s out: Boys Ranch

Most likely scenario

Panhandle (7-2, 4-0): Will clinch the outright district championship and be the No. 1-seed with a win against Sanford-Fritch.

Farwell (7-2, 3-1): Will be the No. 2-seed out of the district if they beat Olton.

Olton (6-3, 3-1): Will be the No. 2-seed out of the district if they beat Farwell.

West Texas High (3-6, 1-3): Can nab the fourth and final playoff spot with a victory at Boys Ranch.

Sanford-Fritch (1-8, 1-3): Needs to beat Panhandle, and have Boys Ranch defeat WT High.

District 2-2A Division II

Who’s in: Smyer, Bovina

Who’s out: Nobody

Most likely scenario

Smyer (5-4, 3-0): Claimed the school’s first ever district championship, and will be the No. 1-seed.

Bovina (3-6, 2-2): Has clinched a playoff spot, but can be the No. 2-seed if Sudan beats New Home and Smyer defeats Ropes.

Sudan (4-5, 1-2): Will secure the No. 3-seed with a victory against New Home.

Ropes (5-3, 1-2): Can earn a playoff spot with a win or a New Home loss to Sudan.

New Home (5-4, 1-2): Can earn a postseason spot with a win against Sudan, and a Smyer loss to Ropes.

District 3-2A Division II

Who’s in: Vega, Stratford, Sunray, Gruver

Who’s out: Booker

Most likely scenario

Vega (7-2, 3-0): Can earn the outright district title and No. 1-seed with a home win against Sunray.

Stratford (4-5, 2-1): Will be the No. 2-seed with a win at Booker. Can earn a share of the district title and No. 1-seed if Sunray defeats Vega.

Sunray (5-4, 2-1): Are locked in as the No. 3-seed, but can move to the No. 2-seed if they beat Vega by 11 points or more.

Gruver (2-8, 1-3): Are locked in as the No. 4-seed.

District 4-2A Division II

Who’s in: Wellington, Wheeler, Clarendon, Shamrock

Who’s out: Memphis

Most likely scenario

Wellington (8-0, 3-0): Can finish the regular season undefeated and clinch the outright district championship by beating Wheeler. A loss to the Mustangs puts the Skyrockets as the No. 2-seed.

Wheeler (8-1, 3-0): Will clinch the outright district title and No. 1-seed with a road victory at Wellington. A loss to the Skyrockets puts the Mustangs as the No. 2-seed.

Clarendon (6-3, 1-2): Can earn the No-3 seed with a home win against Shamrock. A loss to the Irish puts the Broncos as the No. 4-seed.

Shamrock (5-4, 1-2): Can secure the No-3 seed with a road victory at Clarendon. A loss to the Broncos puts the Irish as the No. 4-seed.

District 1-1A Division I

Who’s in: Happy, White Deer

Who’s out: Valley, McLean, Claude

Postseason set

Happy (8-1, 3-0): Has clinched the district championship and No. 1-seed.

White Deer (5-3, 2-1): Secured the No. 2-seed in the district.

District 2-1A Division I

Who’s in: Springlake-Earth, Petersburg

Who’s out: Nazareth, Kress, Lorenzo

Postseason set

District 2-1A Division I

Springlake-Earth (5-3, 3-0): Has clinched the district championship and No. 1-seed.

Petersburg (6-4, 3-1): Clinched the No. 2-seed in the district.

District 1-1A Division II

Who’s in: Follett

Who’s alive: Miami, Hedley

Who’s out: Darrouzett

Most likely scenario

Follett (9-0, 3-0): Can finish off an unbeaten regular season and outright district championship with a home win against Hedley.

Miami (5-4, 2-1): Will nab the No. 2-seed with a victory against Darrouzett.

Hedley (5-4, 2-1): Needs to upset Follett, and have Darrouzett beat Miami to grab the second and final playoff berth.

District 2-1A Division II

Who’s in: Groom, Wildorado

Who’s out: Hart, Silverton

Only scenario

Wildorado plays host to Groom on Friday. The winner is the outright district champion and No. 1-seed. The loser will be the No. 2-seed.
