The bruising back was no match for White Deer, plowing through a snow-packed field for 271 yards and five touchdowns during a 66-20 win.

Taevan Hood, Amarillo High, Jr. RB

The Sandies scat back had a big afternoon during a 45-13 win against Caprock, as the shifty speedster chewed up 105 yards on 14 carries with a score.

Brayden Beck, Randall, Jr. RB-LB

It’s difficult to find anyone playing better football than Beck. The junior was all over the field for the Raiders in a key 20-7 district win at Abilene Wylie. Defensively, he made eight tackles and earned two sacks. On the offensive side of the ball, he torched the Bulldogs for 155 yards on 26 carries.

Javier Martinez, Dumas, Sr. CB

The senior cornerback stepped up with two game-changing interceptions to help lift Dumas past Canyon 20-14. Not only did Martinez pick’s get the Demons points, they both came in the Eagles endzone, killing crucial drives.

Behind the play of a solid offensive line, the Harvesters racked up over 550 yards of offense during a 52-25 rout of Hereford. Quarterback Tucker Bridwell threw for 435 yards with six touchdown passes, and ran for a seventh. Receivers Joey Hill and Kevin Sanchez combined for 414 receiving yards and five touchdowns, while running back Cornelius Landers ran for 138 yards and a score.

Lance Welps, River Road, Jr. QB-DB

The son of Wildcats coach, Bryan Welps, did all he could to get River Road its first district win, 50-28, against Muleshoe. Under center, Welps carried it a game-high 23 times for 253 and and five touchdowns. He also threw a TD, and made eight tackles on defense with an interception.

Jack Wilkerson, Spearman, Jr. WR

Thae versatile Wilkerson continues to be the Swiss Army knife for the Lynx. In a needed 41-14 district win against Tulia, the junior totaled 307 yards of offense with a combined five touchdowns.

Hunter Nicholas, Highland Park, Sr. QB

The talented Hornets gun slinger helped snap Highland Park’s nasty five-game losing skid, doubling up Sandord-Fritch 40-20. Nicholas was masterful in the contest throwing for 386 yards and five touchdowns.

Carter Armes, Gruver, Sr. QB

Armes did a terrific job stepping in at quarterback while Jalin Conyers heals his arm. Arms went right to work in leading the Greyhounds to a 22-13 win over district foe Vega. Armes threw for 176 yards and a touchdown and had 10 carries for 91 yards and a score.

Landyn Hack, Panhandle, Fr. RB

The Panthers stayed perfect in district with a 69-12 rout of Sunray, and do-it-all freshman Hack is a huge reason why. Hack was able to blister the Bobcats for 205 yards rushing with five touchdowns.
