The Cowboys are in a happy mood, pun intended, after getting a big District 2-1A Division I win over rival Nazareth.

Happy took the lead quickly and kept the momentum throughout the contest. Unfortunately, neither team was playing at full strength. The Swifts were without junior back Luke Betzen for a majority of the game and the Cowboys lost leading back, Kristian Wilhite, before halftime.

Happy’s Stetson Jameson was huge for the Cowboys throwing for 108 yards and three touchdowns. The Swifts fall to 3-3 overall and 0-1 in district, while Happy improves to 6-2 and 2-0 in district.

Buckle up

A matchup nine weeks in the making is finally here. Anyone fan of Six-man football or great games in general will pack the house for No. 4 McLean at No. 8 White Deer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday night.

These two District 1-1A Division rivals met twice last season, and all indications lead to that happening this time around.

Both teams come into this showdown with 6-1 records,. Senior standout Ben Crockett and the Tigers are looking to make another run at a state title.

Bucks defensive lineman John Perriman and the Bucks are hoping to nab a big win and take that leap as

serious contenders for a state crown.

Tigers maul Hedley

Groom left no doubt about the power of its offense on Thursday night.

The Tigers were able to put up an unprecedented 87 points before halftime during a 87-0 shutout of the Owls. The Tigers (5-2, 1-0) hope to carry their momentum throughout the rest of the season. Watch out.

Lefors holds strong

The Pirates improved to a 4-3 and 2-0 in District 1-1A Division II on the season with a 53-7 rout of Higgins. The Pirates record is a little deceiving.

Lefors has faced arguably three of the best area teams in Class 1A Division I in McLean, White Deer, and Valley. The Pirates are an underdog to the Tigers in for its huge matchup at Groom on Friday, which is more than likely for the District 1-1A Division II title. But don’t be surprised if the Pirates give Groom a run for its money.

Miami gets long-awaited win over Follett

The Warriors won a close one Friday night 44-39. It had to feel good for the Warriors, who haven’s beaten the Panthers since 1998. Yes, 1998.

That means the last time Miami beat Follett a gallon of gas cost a $1.06. Saving Private Ryan was topping box offices, the MP3 was born, Semisonics’ hit “Closing Time” was tops on the billboards.

The Warriors, now 5-2 on the season, will open District 1-1A Division play at Valley on Thursday night.

The Outlaws stay perfect

Wildorado stayed unbeaten after a 47-12 blowout win against the Meadow JV.

Though they’ve played a mix of JV as well as some varsity teams, it’s pretty special to see this Mustangs team at 7-0. Especially dealing with the adversity they’ve had to deal with after the loss of teammate Quinton Pond.

It will be interesting to see where realignment pins them, but it looks as though the Mustangs are going to be contenders at the Six-man level in the coming years.
