What We Learned from the opening round of the High School Football playoffs across the Texas Panhandle

Palo Duro and Tascosa opened with blowout playoff wins while Amarillo High fell in a heartbreaker 77-76 to El Paso El Dorado. District 2-4A Division I that includes – West Plains, Randall, Dumas, and Canyon – made it a clean sweep in the first round by outscoring El Paso Irvin, El Paso Ysleta, El Paso Austin and El Paso Riverside by a combined 283-48.

In the small schools, Panhandle opened the playoffs taking down Post, 35-18, and Bovina stunned Hale Center 36-24 in a UIL Class 2A Division II bi-district matchup.
