Hernandez keeps getting better by the week just like his West Plains team. Helping lead the Wolves to a 35-14 victory over Lubbock Estacado for their second straight win, the junior showed off the wheels while carrying the load toting the rock 36 times for 160 yards with a touchdown.
Brady Thompson, Highland Park, QB, Jr.
Highland Park won its first game in 693 days by rallying past Dimmitt for a thrilling 37-33 home victory. Thompson led that comeback connecting to Braylen Norman on a 3-yard pitch and catch for the game-winning TD with 40 seconds to play. Thompson finished the game slinging the ball all over the field going 26-of-45 for 268 yards with three touchdown tosses. He also ran for 81 yards with another two TDs.
Jmaury Davis, Clarendon, RB, Sr.
Over the past three weeks the Texas Tech commit has put the Broncos on his back. Davis had his third straight 200 plus yard rushing performance while leading Clarendon to a 41-28 victory over Tulia. Davis couldn’t be stopped being called upon 28 times rushing for 272 yards with four touchdowns. Over the past three games Davis has rushed for 794 yards with 12 TDs.
Pratt McLain, Gruver, RB-DB, Jr.
What an effort from McLain and the Greyhounds beat Hansford County rival Spearman in a 24-20 dramatic victory that came down to the final play. On the offensive side of the ball McLain rushed for 72 yards with a touchdown. On defense, McLain made 21 tackles as well as the final pass breakup on the final play to preserve the win for Gruver.
Jamel-Acosta Lewis, Caprock, RB-DB, Sr.
Caprock continues to be one of the more surprising stories in 2022 thanks to a 4-1 start and a recent thumping of Lubbock Coronado 40-24 in a District 2-5A Division I opener on Friday. Lewis made sure to do his part in the road victory using his size and speed to run for 153 yards on 20 carries with three touchdowns.
Avion Carter, Tascosa, DL, Sr.
Carter spent as much time in Amarillo High’s backfield as the Sandies offense during a 45-10 one-sided rout in the latest chapter of this great rivalry. Carter was a mismatch for the offensive line getting in on four tackles, a tackle for a loss, a sack, and four quarterback pressures.
Kyler Read, Dalhart, QB, So.
The son of Dalhart head coach Joey Read is getting better by the week. The sophomore talent did it all during the Golden Wolves 35-27 home win over Borger. Read went 11-of-12 passing for 124 yards with a pair of scores and ran for 142 yards on 28 totes with a touchdown.
Baylor King, Bushland, WR, Sr.
Bushland keeps making statements week after week and did it once more getting an impressive 38-20 at Class 4A Division I state-ranked Dumas on Friday. King torched the Dumas secondary snagging eight catches for 188 yards with a touchdown and an interception on defense.
Michael Campos, Pampa, QB, Sr.
The senior signal caller helped the Harvesters snap a two-game losing skid getting a big 28-21 road win at Perryton. Campos managed the offense well going 11-of-16 for 103 yards with a touchdown pass and ran for 144 yards on 18 carries that included a 23-yard score.
Alec Atkinson, Farwell, QB, Sr.
What an effort Atkinson showed in an eye-opening 30-6 victory at home against Friona to keep the Steers unbeaten at 5-0. The senior leader didn’t have to throw so used his legs to rush for 235 yards on only 11 carries, averaging 21.4 yards per carry with two TDs.
Juice Williams, Booker, OL-DL, Sr.
Juice was loose running wild for Booker during a 48-0 blanking of Morton on Saturday night at Highland Park. The son of Booker head coach Nick Williams was in the Indians backfield all night making a game-high 10 tackles and played every snap on the offensive line. Booker is now 4-1 overall.
