Texas Tech tight end Tyler Carr announced via his social media accounts that he is transferring after three seasons with the Red Raiders football program.

The Canadian graduate hit the NCAA Transfer Portal on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-5, 235 pound Carr, played in a total of 13 games for Texas Tech over the past three seasons, serving as a tight end/ fullback.

Carr, who was recruited as a preferred walk-on by former head coach Kliff Kingsbury, earned a starting fullback spot as a true freshman in 2017.

This past season, Carr rehabbed a leg injury over the summer. After being put on scholarship by Texas Tech head coach Matt Wells in August, Carr’s action was limited on the field during the Red Raiders 2019 season.

Here’s Carr’s transfer announcement he released on his Twitter account.

“To my teammates, you guys are truly family to me. We have been together through about everything that there is to go through. You guys make this the hardest decision on me because I couldn’t ask for a better group of guys to spend the past 3 seasons with. I will never forget the memories we made together and I don’t think anyone else wants y’all to win more than I do. Love y’all boys!!

I can’t thank Coach Kingsbury and his staff enough for giving me the opportunity to come play for this amazing university. This place was home with y’all and I will forever remember all of the memories we made! I want to thank Coach Wells and his staff for putting me on scholarship in August.

With all that being said, I have thought about my situation and I believe it is best for me to go ahead and enter the transfer portal as a Grad-Transfer.”
