Caprock dominates Tascosa

The Caprock Lady Longhorns were able to bounce back after dropping a district opener last week to Lubbock High by handling Tascosa 11-1 at the Tascosa Softball Complex on Tuesday afternoon.

The Lady Longhorns improve to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in District 3-5A. Tascosa falls to 4-10 on the year and also 1-1 in the league.

Caprock opened the game up in the top of the third inning plating five runs to go up 6-1 highlighted by a two-run double by Kiana Rios. Rios led a strong offensive outing with Caprock finishing the game with 15 hits. Rios was 2-for-2 at the dish with three RBIs. Jaylen Zuniga was 2-for-4 with a solo homer tallying a pair of RBIs and teammate Kodi Shackleford went 3-for-4 with an RBI.

In the circle, Grace Morales brought home the win tossing six innings racking up four strikeouts while allowing only an earned run. Tascosa’s Vanessa Langeland did drive in the lone run for the Lady Rebels.

Amarillo High handles Lubbock Coronado

Amarillo High continues its strong start to the year defending home turf beating up Lubbock Coronado 13-2 during a District 3-5A clash Tuesday afternoon at the AHS Softball Complex.

The Lady Sandies saw Mykaela Samuels go 2-for-2 at the plate that included a triple driving in a game-high four RBIs. Braylee Shuffield was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with a double and two RBIs. Non-district quick hits

A nine-run first inning set the tone as Bushland blasted Pampa 21-4 in a non-district matchup Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Falcons used the long ball delivering eight home runs as a team led by Charley Spinks career outing. Spinks had an extremely hot bat smashing three homers including a grand slam finishing the afternoon with eight RBIs on her own.
