It was another busy week of District 3-5A soccer as Amarillo ISD teams continued league play.

On Tuesday night at Dick Bivins Stadium, Tascosa and Caprock took center stage for a district matchup.

On the boys’ side, the Longhorns were able to come away with a 2-1 victory over the Rebels.

The early minutes were a back-and-forth struggle showing no separation in the two sides. Tascosa was shown a red card for a strong tackle forcing the Rebels to play a man down for the rest of the game.

It didn’t take long for Caprock to capitalize on the advantage getting a 1-0 leda with a goal from Aldo Carrasco off an assist from Fernando Lira on the play. Tascosa answered moments later when Evan Phansana scored the equalizer assisted by Jose Garcia heading into halftime.

With the match still tied 1-1-, and 11-minutes remaining Carrasco netted his second goal of the contest that put Caprock a 2-1 advantage the Longhorns never relinquished.

On Friday, Caprock did suffer its first district loss falling to Lubbock Monterey 2-0. The Longhorns are now 5-2 overall and 2-1 in District 3-5A.
