Friday’s games

Class 4A

Division I

Regional semifinals

Randall (9-3) vs. Decatur (9-3), 1 p.m., Wildcat Stadium, Abilene
Defense has been the name of the game for Randall in the first two rounds of the playoffs, as the Raiders have held Springtown and Lubbock Estacado to a combined 21 points. That will be severely tested by Decatur, who’s scored 97 points in the postseason, including a 55-0 win over Randall’s District 3-4A Division I rival Pampa in bidistrict. Randall has a better defense than Pampa and the Raiders can put up some points. That could make it interesting, but they won’t have quite enough firepower to take down the Eagles. … Decatur 35, Randall 31

Class 3A

Division I

Regional semifinals

Bushland (11-1) vs. Brock (8-4), 2 p.m., Friday, Leo Brittain Field at Lions Stadium, Vernon
Big bad Brock has been has had Bushland’s number in the past three meetings. This is a big mental matchup as much as a physical one for the Falcons. Athletically, these two are evenly matched. Expect a dandy. … Bushland 34, Brock 27

Division II

Regional semifinals

Canadian (10-2) vs. Spearman (5-7), 2 p.m., Friday, Bulldogs Stadium, Borger
Canadian won the first meeting between these district rivals back in Week 8, 42-3. However, a lot has changed in five short weeks. Spearman is playing with confidence and riding high on momentum. The Wildcats are a heavy favorite but expect the Lynx to play with nothing to lose. … Canadian 35, Spearman 13

Class 2A

Division II

Regional semifinals

Vega (8-4) vs. Wellington (11-1), 3 p.m., Friday, Happy State Bank Stadium, Canyon
This may be the most intriguing matchup of the third round and a game that’s been definitely circled when the postseason started. Both teams are big, physical and love to run the football. Expect a four-quarter battle. … Wellington 22, Vega 15

Clarendon (9-3) vs. New Home (11-1), 2 p.m., Friday, Tyer Stadium, Floydada
New Home continues to get better by the season but are they ready for the speed that the Broncos possess. It will be up to the Leopards defense to slowdown running back Jmaury Davis. … Clarendon 28, New Home 21

Class 1A

Division I

State quarterfinals

Nazareth (10-2) vs. Happy (11-1), 6 p.m., Friday, Younger Field, Tulia
Nazareth. Happy. Rivalry. Nothing more needs to be said.  A game that has tremendous meaning to both schools has just been elevated to historic proportions with a semifinal appearance in the state playoffs hanging in the balance.  Add in the potential of the field being white at kickoff and this has a 1967 Packers/Cowboys feel to it as John Facenda narrates the highlights.  In a punishing, physical game I’ll go with my heart. … Happy 48, Nazareth 46

– Craig Sperry
– Last week: 3-0 (1.000)
– Season: 79-17 (.823)
