The West Texas A&M Lady Buffs kept their winning ways going holding on for a 1-0 shutout win against Grand Valley State in the NCAA Division II College World Series national quarterfinals Thursday night at the Regency Athletic Complex in Denver, Colo.

The No. 6-seeded Lady Buffs (37-11) have now won 17 of their last 18 games, and move on to the winners bracket to play No. 2-seed Saint Anselm at 2:30 p.m. Friday.

San Anselm won its opening round contest defeating West Chester, 3-2, Thursday.

Canyon graduate and WT sophomore pitcher Kyra Lair was lights out in the circle against the Lakers (44-9). Lair handcuffed GVSU scattering three hits with two strikeouts in a stellar complete game performance.

WT was also held in check at the plate by Lakers pitcher Hannah Beatus, but were able to scratch across the key lone run of the game in the top of the fourth when Ruby Salzman singled home Hailey Neira.
