
High school volleyball tournament season continued with the second full weekend completing on Saturday afternoon. Check out how teams from across the Texas Panhandle and the South Plains did from Thursday to Saturday.
Dalhart claims River Road Tournament crown
Dalhart carried on its strong start to the young season going unbeaten through Friday and Saturday to win the River Road Tournament Gold Bracket championship.
The Lady Wolves (11-2-1 overall) went 4-0-1 during the two days. During Saturday’s bracket play, Dalhart defeated Idalou in the semifinals 25-16, 25-12, advancing to face Fort Elliott in the championship game. In the match with the Lady Cougars, the Lady Wolves were able to get another sweep beating Fort Elliott, 25-21, 25-21.

Kammi Maddox had a great Saturday of play combining for 17 assists with seven kills and four blocks over the two wins to lead Dalhart. Kaetlin Sundvahl handed out 14 assists with six kills, while Remi Johnson added six kills with four blocks. Teammate Reese Jenkins also stepped up with six kills over the two matches with five blocks.
Fort Elliott finished as the runner-up in the River Road Tournament finishing with a 3-2 record over the two days. The Lady Cougars were able to down Friona to advance to the title game against Dalhart. Jaycee Sewell was a standout for Fort Elliott combining for 57 assists in the tournament. Teammate Ali Mahler knocked down 25 kills and Rylee Rose served well with 10 aces.
San Jacinto Christian Academy went 4-1 during the River Road Tournament and won the Silver Bracket title. The Lady Patriots started Friday by beating Palo Duro (25-13, 25-23), then Wildorado (25-8, 25-6) before falling to Dalhart (16-25, 25-27). On Saturday, SJCA defeated Randall’s JV to start bracket play, 25-12, 25-13, then knocked off Highland Park (25-11, 23-23) to win the Silver Bracket.
Alayna Daniels was strong on the outside for the Lady Patriots finishing the two days with a combined 43 kills and 36 digs. Blayne Robison dished out a combined 87 assists.

Bushland wins Farmersville Tournament
It looks like the Bushland Lady Falcons are already in midseason form after going an impressive 9-0 and winning the Farmersville Championship on Saturday afternoon.
Bushland (18-3 overall) had an excellent Saturday of bracket play beating Lyndell in the quarterfinals 25-19, 25-19. In the semifinals, the Lady Falcons handled Cado Mills 25-13, 25-22 and then went on to knock off Clyde in three-sets for the championship, 25-14, 25-27, 25-21.
Sophomore sensation Berklee Billington was sensational over the three days racking up 71 kills and being named All-Tournament Team. Jori Clark and Laynee Adams were also big on the outside to compliment Billington. Clark had 68 kills with Adams finishing with 58. Ava Permenter was another named to the All-Tournament team thanks to a big defensive effort of 175 digs. Morgan Eberly and Jada Scott handled the offensive combining for 250 assists.

Tournament Quick hits
It was a big weekend for Lubbock-Cooper as the Lady Pirates ran the table to win the San Angelo Tournament Championship on Saturday. LCP (11-4) went 5-0 over the two days and defeated San Angelo Central (23-25, 25-23, 25-17) to win the outright title. Broox Lopex tallied 64 assists over the five games with 14 kills and five aces. Teammate Konli Johnson played big at the net with 19 digs and great defense with 23 digs.
For a second straight week, the Shallowater Fillies are tournament champions. After defending home court last week, Shallowater won the LuAllen Invitational in Graham. The Fillies went 6-1 over the two days defeating Graham in the semifinals (25-22, 25-21). Shallowater then took down Paradise in the championship game (25-17, 25-14).
Pampa won the Silver Bracket of the LuAllen Invitational in Graham. The Lady Harvesters were able to beat Jacksboro, All Saints and Midland Greenwood on Saturday to win that title. Karina Gonzalez and Madi Barton were highlights for the Pampa volleyball team.
Borger was third in the Silver Bracket at the LuAllen Invitational. Addy Bridges had a big weekend for the Lady Bulldogs with 37 kills, 18 aces and 16 blocks. Chelsea Medina chipped in with 53 assists and 25 digs.
Lubbock-Cooper Liberty had an excellent showing going 8-1 and getting runner-up at the Glen Rose Tournament from Thursday through Saturday. During Saturday’s bracket play, the Lady Patriots beat Nolan Catholic (25-16, 25-22), West Plains (25-13, 23-25, 18-16) and fell to Liberty Hill in the title game (24-26, 25-17, 11-15). Kennedy Ezell and Taelyn Salinas both reached 1,000 career digs. Lexie Allgood and Campbell Beeler were named to the All-Tournament Team.
West Plains finished third overall at the Glen Rose Tournament getting bracket wins against Wimberly (27-25, 16-25, 15-12) and Boyd (25-21, 18-25, 15-11). Idaly Sotelo totaled 124 digs during the three days with nine aces. Kynzie Ward racked up 62 kills with 21 blocks.
Canyon went 5-4 at the Glen Rose Tournament. Lane Jones was named to the All-Tournament Team.
