District 1-1A

Wildorado wins outright 1-1A title 

The Wildorado Lady Mustangs closed out their regular season schedule in a big-time way with a quick sweep of rival Miami 25-17, 25-15, 25-12, at home on Tuesday night.

The victory not only gives the Lady Mustangs a season sweep of the Lady Warriors but gives Wildorado (19-4 overall) the outright District 1-1A championship with a perfect 6-0 mark in the league.

“This team came in ready to battle,” Wildorado head coach Skyler Cleavinger said. “They have bought in to what I was trying to implement and have fought hard all season. This team has exceeded all of my expectations, and I couldn’t be prouder of how they performed. They show up and continue to show up for more than just themselves.”

On the offensive side, Jisella Segovia and Cacy Cornwell led the front row with a total of 17 kills. Cornwell finished with a team-high nine with Segovia adding eight kills. Reyna Segovia and Sonell Van Wyk quarterbacked the offense 29 total assists. Reyna tallied 15 assists with five kills and Van Wyk had 14 assists with six kills and teammate Jovi Perkins led the defense with 19 digs.

Miami (19-9) falls to 2-2 in district and is still in second place behind Wildorado. Fort Elliott was able to sweep Kelton, 25-12, 25-19, 25-11, on Tuesday. The Lady Cougars (13-12, 2-3) have clinched a playoff spot with the victory.

District 3-5A

Caprock gets big win 

Lilliana Rangel put together a night to remember that led Caprock to a clutch four-set road win over Plainview on Tuesday night.

Rangel was the star for the Lady Longhorns leading the way with a triple-double performance doing everything she could with 19 digs, 18 assists, 11 kills and added three aces.

Before leaving with an injury to start the third set, teammate Grace Morales was having a big outing to compliment Rangel with 12 digs and 11 assists. Reese Dindinger had a team-high 15 kills and and Adrienne Madrid registered 17 digs.

Caprock (18-16 overall) is now all alone in third place in District 3-5A at 2-4. Plainview (16-16-1, 1-5) stays tied for the fourth and final postseason spot with Palo Duro.

Tascosa sweeps Palo Duro

The Tascosa Lady Rebels took care of Palo Duro in a three-game sweep 25-18, 25-14, 25-7, on Tuesday night.

The Lady Rebels stay a game behind Amarillo High in District 3-5A at 6-1 in the league while improving to 27-13 overall. Palo Duro (17-15-1, 1-5) stay in a fourth-place tie with Plainview.

Kassidy Langeland hit a milestone surpassing 1,000 career digs thanks to landing 17 digs from the back row against the Lady Dons. Langeland also served extremely well with four aces. Berkley Harper, Saphina Stanley and Gabbie Mason each had eight kills and Bennett Berryman served up five aces.

Palo Duro’s Erin Mims totaled 17 digs with three kills.

Amarillo High downs Lubbock-Cooper in potential playoff preview 

In what is expected to be a highly anticipated Class 5A third round matchup in a few weeks, Amarillo High stepped out of district on Tuesday and gave its fans an early preview while gaining some momentum in the process by downing Lubbock-Cooper in four-sets, 20-25, 25-17, 25-12, 25-16, at home.

The Lady Sandies, the District 3-5A leader, improve to 33-5 overall. Lubbock-Cooper, which is leading District 4-5A, falls to 27-12.

The twin combo of Ryan and Blair Pennington stepped up in a big way for AHS. Blair commanded the offense with 49 assists with Ryan knocking down a team-high 16 kills. Teammate Sienna Cavalier played big at the net with 16 kills of her own to go with nine digs and Bird Moffitt racked up 13 digs.

District 4-4A

Soria highlights Randall’s sweep of rival Canyon 

The Randall Lady Raiders bounced back from their first district loss on Saturday to West Plains by sweeping arch-rival Canyon at home in a three-set sweep, 25-15, 25-15, 25-23, on Tuesday night.

Junior setter Sidney Soria was the story putting together another milestone performance. Soria handed out 40 assists against the Lady Eagles that put her over 3,000 for her career. Soria added eight digs with six kills in the victory.

Senior standout Jordyn Gove racked up 21 kills with nine digs and two blocks. Gove has gone over 1,500 kills with 1,500 career digs in her illustrious career. Kenna Miller hit the floor for 16 digs which gave her over 500 career digs and Brooke Henderson chipped in with 13 digs, six kills with three aces.

Canyon’s Laney Jones and Landri Jay combined for 23 digs despite the loss.

Randall (35-4) stays tied with West Plains for first place in District 4-4A at 11-1. Canyon (19-20) is holding on to the fourth and final playoff spot by one game over Pampa at 6-6 in the league.

Pampa survives Borger in five-set marathon 

The Borger Lady Bulldogs gave the Pampa Lady Harvesters everything they could handle, but in the end, it was Pampa coming away with a five-set thrilling win over arch-rival Borger, 22-25, 25-14, 28-26, 19-25, 21-19, on Tuesday night.

This match went nearly three hours and came down to extra frames in the fifth and final set.

Pampa (19-17 overall, 5-7 in 4-4A) pulls a game behind Canyon (19-20, 6-6) for the fourth and final playoff spot in District 4-4A with two regular season games remaining.

The Lady Harvesters will have a huge showdown at Canyon on Saturday with a chance to pull into a fourth-place tie.

Mazi Smith, Jolie Groomer and Maecie Hawthorne had monster efforts to help Pampa get past Borger on Tuesday. Hawthorne ran the offense with 43 assists to go with 10 digs. Groomer had 13 digs with 12 kills and Smith used her 6-foot-1 size to make a big difference at the net with 32 kills.

Borger (16-19, 2-10) was led by Emilee Bridges with 19 digs and 12 kills for a double-double. Isabella Pena added a double-double with 21 assists and 13 digs.

West Plains slips past Hereford in five sets 

Fresh off a huge win over Randall on Saturday, West Plains had to regroup and go on the road to hostile Hereford for another key District 4-4A clash on Tuesday.

It wasn’t easy by any means, however, the Lady Wolves were able to come back from a two-set deficit and grab a five-set win, 18-25, 23-25, 25-19, 25-18, 15-6.

The come-from-behind rally keeps West Plains in a first-place tie with Randall at 11-1 in District 4-4A and pushes the Lady Wolves overall record to 35-7. Hereford stays in third place at 9-3 in the league and 18-16 overall.

Jayli Franklin paced West Plains with 14 kills followed by Brooklyn Garcia and Aaniyah Kitchens with 13 a piece. Zenaida Murillo went for a double-double with 24 assists and 20 digs and McCall Sims led the way with 25 digs.

Hereford’s Kyndal Blair was great on the front row with 21 kills and London Baker did what she does best handing out 35 assists.

District 1-3A

Bushland sweeps Dalhart, Friona blisters Dimmitt 

The Bushland Lady Falcons ran its unbelievable district win streak to 87 straight games dating back to 2011 getting another sweep this time of Dalhart 25-10, 25-11, 25-11, on Tuesday night.

Bushland clinches a share of the District 1-3A crown at 6-0 and moves to 35-6 overall. Dalhart falls to 18-13-1, 2-5.

Senior Abby Howell crushed it for Bushland with a game-high 18 kills. Mackenzie Sims went for 22 assists, five kills and four aces and Avery Ramos registered 20 digs.

Friona stayed in second place in the district cruising past Dimmitt 25-9, 25-7, 25-7, on Tuesday.

The Squaws are 5-2 in the league and 29-9 overall. Dimmitt drops to 1-28, 0-6.

Reese Stowers tallied 14 kills. Aubree Bunker and Jacee Burney each had seven kills.

District 1-2A

Sanford-Fritch wins 1-2A championship 

Sanford-Fritch took home the outright District 1-2A championship on Tuesday night at home with a downing of West Texas High in straight sets 25-14, 25-20, 25-22.

The Lady Eagles clinch the district title by staying perfect in district at 6-0 and moving to 25-6 overall. West Texas High (15-19) is remains in second place at 4-3 in the league.

Avery Conner and Emma Williams did their job to help the Lady Eagles get the key wins. Williams was big at the net with 14 kills and three blocks with Conner knocking down 12 kills with two blocks. The offense ran through Zoe Deatherage who handed out 23 assists.

WT High’s Zoe Smith finished with 16 digs.

Vega gets season sweep of Highland Park 

The Vega Lady Longhorns snapped a recent losing skid with a key District 1-2A victory against Highland Park on Tuesday, 25-13, 25-18, 22-25, 25-15.

The Lady Longhorns are 3-4 in district and 16-14 overall. The Lady Hornets fall to 11-22 and 3-3 in the league.

What a night it was for a pair of Lady Longhorns. Addison Bidegain was unbelievable with 23 digs, 22 assists, four kills and served up six aces. Teammate Jaz Martinez had a double-double effort as well with 17 digs, 16 kills and was great from the service line with five aces, and Kashli Gilter did her job on the front row with nine kills and nine blocks.

Highland Park’s Tessica Deanda registered eight kills with two blocks. Bria Delgado led the team with 19 digs.
