District play carried on Friday and Saturday across the Texas Panhandle and South Plains. District 3-5A also continued. Take a look at all the action including Amarillo High’s win over arch-rival Tascosa in a District 3-5A showdown. Canyon, West Plains and Randall stayed hot as did Lubbock-Cooper Liberty.
District 3-5A
Amarillo High takes over sole possession of District 3-5A with a win at Tascosa
Amarillo High and Tascosa took center stage with the two rivals meeting for the first time in 2025 with first place on the line in District 3-5A on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Sandies didn’t flinch in this first meeting taking over sole possession in the district standings taking down the Lady Rebels in four-sets, 25-22, 25-16, 17-25, 25-14, at a jam packed THS Activity Center.
The Lady Sandies now own first place by themselves at 6-0 in the league while moving to 19-8 overall. AHS also pushes their district win streak to 58 straight dating back to 2020 and head coach Haleigh Burns was able to celebrate a special milestone Saturday getting her 300th career victory.
Tascosa falls to 17-9 overall and suffered its first league loss moving to 4-1.
AHS had a big effort from Kinsler Hanson who led the team with 14 kills and added two aces. Bennett Rea had a double-double with 14 assists and 10 digs as Harper Vaughn chipped in with 14 assists. Tascosa’s Addison Merrell had 18 assists with Libby Miller adding 17. Avery Scalf led the team with 14 kills.

In some other District 3-5A action, Lubbock-Cooper swept Lubbock High, 25-14, 25-14, 25-10. Broox Lopez had 21 assists and five aces. The Lady Pirates are now 16-8 and 4-1 in district.
Caprock defeated Palo Duro in five-sets, 18-25, 25-18, 20-25, 25-16, 15-18. Grace Morales totaled a double-double with 17 digs and 12 kills.
Lubbock Coronado knocked off Plainview in four-sets, 25-20, 25-13, 22-25, 25-22. Hailee Parrott Curtis knocked down 16 kills with 14 digs for a double-double. The Lady Mustangs improve to 15-13 and 4-1 in District 3-5A.

District 4-4A
West Plains stayed unbeaten in District 4-4A with a sweep of Pampa, 25-9, 25-21, 25-15, on Saturday. The Lady Wolves are 2-0 to kick off league play and 20-9 on the year. The Lady Harvesters fall to 14-8 and 0-2. Kynzie Ward attacked the net for 15 kills and four blocks. Teammate Aaniyah Kitchen did her job on the front row with 11 kills and five blocks and Idaly Sotelo tallied 19 digs.
Canyon kept pace with West Plains sweeping Hereford 25-19, 25-21, 25-22. The Lady Eagles got another huge performance from Laney Jones and her 18 kills and 16 digs for a double-double. Neelie Henson went for 10 kills and five blocks and Brylee McElroy led the team with 13 assists. The Lady Eagles stay unbeaten in the league at 2-0 and are now 12-12 overall. Hereford drops to 13-12 overall and 1-1 in District 4-4A.
Randall stayed undefeated in District 4-4A beating Borger, 25-11, 25-11, 25-8, on Saturday. The Lady Raiders (16-12) are 2-0 in District 4-4A to keep up with West Plains and Canyon. Borger is now 9-13, 0-2. Chloe Brown had 10 kills and six aces for the Lady Raiders and Kambree Gonzalez led the team with 14 digs.
Dumas earned its first district win getting past Perryton 25-16, 25-13, 25-22 on Saturday. The Demonettes are 14-14 overall and 1-1 in District 4-4A. Sophie Clements did a little bit of everything for Dumas with 15 assists, seven kills, seven digs and four aces.
District 5-4A
It was another quick day for Lubbock-Cooper Liberty in a 25-5, 25-5, 25-15, sweep against Levelland on Saturday. The Lady Patriots are on a roll at 28-2 overall and 2-0 in league play. Campbell Beeler had five kills for Liberty in the victory.
Frenship Memorial picked up its first ever district win as a program defeating Snyder 25-15, 25-14, 25-19. The Lady Panthers saw Mackenzie Ivy knock down 15 kills with two aces. Frenship Memorial is now 1-1 in district and 17-7 overall.
District 1-1A
The Fort Elliott Lady Cougars remained atop the district standings with a four-set victory against Wildorado, 22-25, 25-14, 25-11, 25-22, on Saturday. Jaycee Sewell had 18 assists and served up nine aces. Brylie Hand had a great defensive game with 28 digs. Fort Elliott improves to 16-6 on the year and 2-0 in District 1-1A. Wildorado falls to 3-16, 0-1.
Miami stayed unbeaten in the league with a 25-4, 25-9, 25-2, sweep at Channing. The Lady Warriors Bentley Brooks dished out 10 assists and had a massive serving effort with 15 aces for a double-double. The Lady Warriors are now 2-0 in District 1-1A and 10-5 overall. Channing (0-9) is 0-2 in the league.
Kelton kept pace with Fort Elliott and Miami getting a sweep of White Deer 25-19, 25-8, 25-13. The Lady Lions push their overall record to a perfect 9-0 and 2-0 in District 1-1A. White Deer falls to 2-16 overall and 0-2 in district. McKinzi McManus had 11 kills, five aces and six digs for Kelton.
Shamrock earned its first district win after defeating Darrouzett 25-4, 25-17, 25-6. The Lady Irish were led by Addi Jernigan’s 13 digs and five kills Ruby Baggett added 10 digs with six kills and Onnarae Dean went for six kills. Shamrock moves to 1-1 in district and 7-5 overall. The Lady Longhorns drop to 2-2 overall and 1-1.

San Jacinto Christian Academy stayed perfect in TAPPS District 1-2A with a 25-17, 25-15, 25-16 sweep of Lubbock Southcrest. The Lady Patriots are now an impressive 21-3 overall and 2-0 in the league. Alayna Daniels paced the team with 13 kills. Blayne Robison had 28 assists and Jaxsyn Amero added 14 digs.
Bushland stayed hot in non-district play with a 25-17, 25-23, 20-25, 25-18, win at Frenship on Saturday. Jada Scott scattered 28 assists with Morgan Eberly adding 23 assists. Laynee Adams had a huge game with 25 digs and 20 kills for a double-double. Berklee Billington also had 20 kills.
Shallowater picked up a non-district win downing Denver City 21-25, 25-20, 25-11, 25-23. The Fillies are now 20-8 overall. Aniston VanAtta had 21 assists and eight digs for Shallowater with teammate Emily Lusk pounding down 10 kills with four blocks.
Vega got a non-district win against Dimmitt 25-16, 25-11, 25-14. Madelynn Wellman had 11 assists and 10 aces for a double-double and Khloe Griffitt added 13 kills with seven assists.
Highland Park fell to Lubbock Talkington 13-25, 21-25, 24-26. The Lady Hornets fall to 10-14 overall. Despite the loss, Haley Rogers had seven assists and four aces.
