District 1-2A
The Gruver Greyhounds continue to sprint towards another District 1-2A championship thanks to putting away Sunray 13-4 on Tuesday and then a convincing 8-1 victory at home Saturday.
The Greyhounds, who have clinched a UIL Class 2A Division II playoff spot, are now an unblemished 6-0 in league action and 9-1 on the year. Sunray (14-4-1 overall) falls to 1-3 in district.
Stellar pitching was the difference in the series. On Tuesday, Greyhound senior Brock Butler worked three innings of relief, striking out five without allowing a run. On Saturday, it was leader Briggs Satterfield going six strong innings limiting the Bobcats to one earned run with five K’s. At the plate, Mason Lankford was 2-for-4 on Tuesday with an RBI and Trentin Aranda added a two-run triple.

On Saturday, Satterfield was not only masterful on the mound but was able to feast on Bobcat pitching going 4-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.
Sanford-Fritch had a great week beating Highland Park by a combined 32-6. Fritch defeated the Hornets 17-6 on Tuesday and then blanked Highland Park 15-0 on Friday. The Eagles currently sit at 3-3 in District 1-2A and 10-7 on the season. Briggs Bidwell led Fritch with a 3-for-4 day at the dish Tuesday, tallying three doubles with a pair of RBIs. On Friday, Bidwell added an RBI double.
District 4-4A
The beat went on for West Plains and Canyon this past week, setting up a potentially big showdown for the end of next week.
West Plains and Pampa both won a pair of close games last week to stay tied for the district lead, and both clinched playoff spots as well on Friday. That sets up the game between the two Canyon ISD schools scheduled for next Friday at Canyon which will likely decide the district champion.
In a meeting between CISD schools this past Friday, West Plains visited Randall and jumped out to a big early lead, only to see Randall tie it with a huge sixth inning. However, West Plains scored three runs in the top of the seventh, taking the lead back on a two-run single by Elijah Vasquez to pull out an 8-5 victory and improve to 20-6 and 9-1 in district.
Canyon (19-6-1, 9-1) kept pace by pulling out a tough win at Dumas, scoring two runs in the top of the sixth and holding on for a 4-3 victory.
It was the second strong pitching performance of the week for the Eagles, who on Tuesday beat Randall 6-2. Starter Baylor Schilling went five innings and gave up onlyu one earned run, as the Eagles rallied from a 2-0 deficit. Brixton Lindley closed things out with two scoreless innings of relief.
District 1-3A
The Bushland Falcons moved alone in first place with big win over Dalhart on Tuesday, rolling to a 12-1 victory to take a half-game lead over Tulia.
Bushland (18-6, 8-1) has clinched no worse than second place in the district. The Falcons have one more game left with Tulia which will decide the district championship. In the victory against Dalhart, Wade McConnell was 2-for-2 that included a two-run home run and a triple to end the contest with four RBIs.
District 3-1A
Nazareth is a step ahead of the competition and that showed in a big way this past week.
The Swifts absolutely crushed Springlake-Earth 27-0 on Tuesday and followed that by demolishing Petersburg 19-0 on Friday. The Swifts (5-4) are cruising through District 3-1A at 4-0.
Against Earth, Breck Proctor slugged the bat for a 2-for-2 day with four RBIs and tossed three scoreless innings with six strikeouts for the win. On Friday, Rhett Ethridge had a pair of doubles that totaled for four RBIs.
