On the diamond: Thanks to a great effort at the plate and in the outfield by the sophomore, the Dumas Demonettes earned huge District 4-4A wins over Pampa, 13-12, and Canyon, 11-8, last week.

Against the Lady Harvesters, Fierro feasted on Pampa pitching going 4-for-4 with two doubles and drove in four runs. During the win against the Lady Eagles, Fierro continued her hot bat with a 3-for-5 outing with another double and an RBI as well as scoring two runs.

On the year, Fierro is hitting .422 with an on-base percentage of .500. She has seven home runs with seven doubles and has tallied 26 RBIs. Defensively, Fierro is outstanding with a fielding percentage of .956 percent.

Head Coach Carlyn Tolleson: “Vida was key for us last week against Pampa and Canyon. She hit the ball extremely well and right now she is seeing the ball in the box as great as anyone can. Not only is she so good at the plate but her defense is tremendous. She does a great job in center field for us. What I love about Vida is she is so competitive and though she is a sophomore she is a leader on this team, and she does her job. We are so proud of her.”

Fierro: “It was a very exciting week for us as a team. Those were huge wins against two really good teams. I think those type of wins just helps us continue to gain confidence and help us toward our goal of winning a district championship. I just want to keep improving and work hard at practice and make sure that this team just continues to get better. We all have so much fun together.”
